Hello all my name is Chris I live in Oregon. I just purchased a 2005 Elantra GT 5dr Hatchback. I think it's a pretty sweet car. It's my second vehicle I own. My first was my 92 MX3, which I sold the same day I bought the Elantra. I like the extra horsies I have now, since the MX3 had the puny 1.6l making a marvelous 88hp factory. I had a few plans on mods for it, but I needed something more reliable. And also with less miles (it had 206K  )
Well I stumbled across this forum thanks to someone who has posted the link to this forum on the Hyundai site. I'm glad I did because I have found a couple of things I want to do to my "new" car to make it mine. Thanks ofcourse to the inspiration from all the guys and girls who have put hard work into their precious XD's.
Thanks again I will surely come around often to ask for opinions and questions.
I'll do a photoshoot of my vehicle soon.

Oh yes! many mods....I didn't want to post them all up here but I'll tell some of them. The antenna needs to go...13 inch one EuroStyle-13-inch-ANTENNA (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EuroStyle-13-inch-ANTENNA-Hyundai-Tiburon-Elantra_W0QQitemZ180156003429QQihZ008QQcategoryZ33 639QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
window ventshades, hood protector oem, tint soon, rims later on but most def. I'll be painting mine don't know what color though. My XD is silver so I'm noy sure if gun metal will look good. mudflaps....painted to much. debadge and make a custom logo for up at the grill and the center logo in the back where the crooked h goes. oh also I want to mod my grill. I want to get one but if I can't find one I like I'll do it myslef....ofcourse I'll try to find my first try from a junk yard or maybe someone else here has a spare one i could buy. I the grill you have NY2002ElantraGT, something like that....black ofcourse with my custom emblem. Stereo.....just the reciever (don't know what brand). I like the Alpine iDA-X001 (from ebay). After my warranty is up I'll do some stuff to the engine and other things but not so many things. I'm a college student, so I can't afford that many things. oooh also I'm thinking of a front lip....there's a bodykit that comes with one (forgot the name) I think I'll go that way (black).
Well I will post a thread for my car and put pics and the things I want to do.
btw NY2002ElantraGT is the antenna the same as yours?
Oh also I forgot, I want a different shifter knob (5-speed)...any websites you guys may recommend are appreciated

Cool, I just ordered it. First mod I guess....hehe. Does anyone know about this sites----> www.hyundaioemparts.com (http://www.hyundaioemparts.com/Elantra_Parts.asp?pop=y) & www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com (http://www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com/Hyundai_elantraGT_accessories.html). I want to buy the rubber mat for the back, but I don't know if it'll just say Elantra or Elantra GT. Also I want to buy the floor mats with the GT logo. I went to a dealership close by and they told me they'd have to order them but that I could buy most of the stuff I want (hood deflector & cargo tray) Also I've seen in a thread about the weathertech sun deflectors. I will probably get them.
Does anyone know what kind of shops I should go to make the custom emblems I want.....metal shop?
Tint is also coming....done by the Tint King. The deflectors and the tint should make the car look real nice.
Oh about debadging....I know about the whole tooth floss removing....but my question is about will it leave a sticky mess? if so I guess go gone is the best.

Hey man! Welcome to the site! I was once a wandering peddler like you and then look at me now, I have a crapload of modifications! If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask, I like your attitude already for some reason.

Thanks KeWLKaT, I sure will ask alot. :D
I just made some math calculations and it looks like I'll be working 6 to 7 days a week if I want to mod some things on my car...hehe

Bleh, working a couple more days to have more fun in the long run sure is a good investment, ha!
Remember though, modding your XD is a never ending hole of money... I was just looking the other day on how much I've spent on it in the past couple of years, and, damn... Let's just say I could've afforded a handful of Russian housewives for the cost!
