If I looked I could probably find it myself, but where did you get the card holder, and how much was it if you don't mind me asking? Thanks. :)

I didn't know that Hyundai had different stock cd players for the Elantra.

Vsolo picked it up off Carbonman when he was still selling them, I think for around $15 or so. However, he has a GT, which has no space for the card holder... so I nicked it off him. I'm not sure who sells them anymore... I believe they are KDM only.

Oh, and on the old board, there was a fellow (who doesn't post here anymore, apaprently) who actually got the Clarion/Hyundai system stock with his Elantra... I believe he lived in Texas. The one I got is from an '01 Canadian Tiburon.

We just gotta sucker another person into selling KDM trinkets like the cardholder, heehee.

Though I've never dealt with them myself, everyone says wonderful things about Kspec.com & Dreamka4u.com, and being that they are in Korea (right?), maybe they can do a special order or something.

I quite like the ticketholder, it's a lot more useful than those placeholders ;) Especially if you're on the turnpike with any frequency! I keep my business cards in there, you never know who'll need some nerdwork done.

CuddleBug1899
08-31-2004, 08:34 PM
Well I wouldn't need it for the turnpike tickets because I have ezpass but I'm sure I'd find something to stick in there. I'm gonna check out those sites and see what I can find. Not that it's important and I need it now or anything but I figure I'll check it out and see what I can find. If you happen to come across anything, would you mind shooting me a message? Thanks! :)

I couldn't stop! My torque gauge isn't hooked up, and my fuel gauge still acts funky. It would have been completely embarrasing! Seriously though, I was driving by Allentown at noon, and then at 3am. I don't think anyone was around during those times :\

Leviathant, Why dont you change the rest of the illumination to Red?? is really easy for the cluster all you need is 4 #194 bulbs and 2 #74 for the HVAC 3 #74 and you are done, also ofr the window switches 7 red LEDs, and the lighter is a #74 as well as the ash tray.

Leviathant
12-06-2004, 11:20 AM
Working on that. Primarily, I want to make sure everything matches. Red LEDs produce an entirely different color than the Tiburon Orange that the stereo and the guages are in. I've tried to get bulbs from Tiburon clusters, but the guy who does the conversions (that I found) throws them all away (ARGH!)

Mostly, it's a matter of finding the free time. Trust me, if I could do it all at once, I would, becuase this wood dash fits a lot more snugly than did my black dash, and it's a bit of a pain to take out and put back in.

Question:

Where did you buy the Euro antenna from? I'm looking for those.

Where did you buy the Euro antenna from? I'm looking for those.

They're all over eBay, going for $14 + $4 shipping by Antenna X (http://antennax.com/). It is my experience that you do lose some reception with this smaller antenna, but I don't listen to the radio very often anyway. It looks like on their website they sell a power antenna for $30 as well, might be a nice option.

Sgt Felix, I'm "TSgt Dunphy" here is the desert of Qatar "Doing the Deid", the desert put a hold on my mods altho they will be waiting for me when I get home. I was here as a test of the C-130J in the desert, it went so well they want us back (no good deed goes unpunished) for maybe 2 years :) I'll have to get my mods done quickly when I'm home.. Levi is getting ahead of me with his mods LOL

My mods are all internal aesthetic mods, for the most part :) vsolo's GT looks sharper on the outside and probably handles a bit better.

are those rings the ones that dreamka4u has on their site? They've never gotten around to posting pics....

They are one and the same. They're plasticky, and there is no adhesive that comes with them. Truth be told, the set I got is a little tiny bit warped, but you can't really notice. It looks really sharp though, and I got em for $20 off someone here on EXD, bit of a lucky break :) I was going to post a DIY but it's really, really easy to do.

what are you waiting for to put the red bulbs on the cluster and HVAC??

Maybe we can do it when I do your Dads springs

Leviathant
03-30-2005, 02:12 PM
$$$$

No one at New Tiburon seems to keep their old bulbs when they do LED conversions. Really that should be all I need, because the other components (save for the HVAC) are all stock Tiburon lights. I'd like them all to match... technically it's more of an orange than a red.

ilanpro
03-31-2005, 01:48 PM
Just try it I think you will be happy with the result, the green helps it get a little orange

Leviathant
03-31-2005, 05:16 PM
I'm a web designer man, I'm picky about color matching ;)

We could possibly get amber LEDs and put red lighting gels in front or something, but that'd be a little bit too much work. I used lighting gels to get my clock to match the orange of the rest of my console (not counting the HVAC) and it's a perfect match.

ilanpro

An LED conversion for the Cluster is going to be PIA

Leviathant
04-03-2005, 04:49 AM
That's why I just want the lights from a Tiburon cluster. Easy swap, cheap, and the color should match the rest of my stuff... save for the HVAC, but I have plans for that too. Cheap plans, of course. I mean, I am a hyundai owner, right? ;)

is it safe to take off the needles?? I never thought it was...

Leviathant
07-23-2005, 08:21 PM
Take off what needles?

The side panels were really easy, actually. Used a screwdriver, some 3m Spray adhesive, and black canvas that I got in the scraps pile at Wal Mart nice n' cheap. The side panel comes off with some unscrewing, and some pulling. Keep taking off screws and you can get most of the obstructing panel pieces out of the way. I'm pretty sure I got the idea off someone on this forum.

I basically cut the cloth in the general shape of the brown mouseskin I was replacing, and trimmed it up as I went. I used a pair of very thin scissors to scrunch the excess cloth into the gap along the top and side of the panel.

Be very careful not to let any spray adhesive get anywhere but on the cloth you are covering! It makes your door panels very ugly if you get this stuff on them, and if you try to clean it off, your interior will come off with your cleaner. It took maybe an hour or two to do, on either side. Like with any DIY project, the more patient you are, the better your results will be.

Someday I'm going to do the same thing for the back of the car, but for now, all that I've done back there is wrapped the armrest in black canvas, so it matches up front. I guess I don't have pics of that online now, but when I clean my car out, I'll get photos up for that too.

Ilan, if you're reading this, can you remove that gigantic tiburon gauge image now? Pretty please :)

Ordered chrome door handles for the interior last week from dreamka4u, finally. This weekend Vsolo and I are installing a practically new full suspension (taken from a GT after 1,500 miles)... considering I've got 130,000 miles on my current suspension, that should be a noticeable upgrade :)

I'll probably be slapping in an Alpine MP3/iPod head unit next month, to boot. The OEM Hyundai/Clarion head unit I've got doesn't like to eject CDs anymore, and frankly, I'm sick of CDs.

2 letters "XM" lol.......I got an XM sat radio for my car and I haven't listened to a single cd since i installed the unit. It's got an FM modulator like the i-pods so you can hook it up wirelessly to any radio with FM on it. Install took all of 10 mins and the unit I bought also allows me to save 10 songs on it :D better than a CD, I can change/update the 10 songs as I please from live XM. No fancy headunit required:cool:

Leviathant
05-22-2008, 11:55 PM
Nah, I've thought this out pretty well -- The head unit will cost me a one-time fee of $170, whereas XM is a subscription service. Also, I'm too much of an audiophile to tolerate FM transmitted music, I'm very much looking forward to going completely digital. Couple this with the fact that I've got an iPhone, so I'll always have my music with me, and now I'll be able to charge the phone while I'm in the car without the hassle of sticking an adapter in the cigarette lighter.

Hahah, so I got the suspension put on this weekend, and I feel like I'm riding in a truck! That is to say, over the 130,000 miles I put on the car, I guess it dropped a few inches. There is a very noticeable difference in height when you sit down in the car.

Haha, well, if you read the first post, most of my upgrades have been OEM or KDM, and mostly interior or suspension upgrades. Once I get my new (used) interior panels, I'll take some shots of the inside, which isn't quite so bone stock. It's still 95% OEM/KDM though, heehee. What's important to me isn't so much performance, as comfort, reliability and convenience ;)

The latest addition - I have a floor-mounted arm that holds my iPhone for me. You can also see my new stereo in the background, an Alpine, uh, something. It takes USB, iPod (or in my case, iPhone), satellite radio, bluetooth, all that other crap. I got tired of having CDs in my car, and this head unit allows full control (essentially) of the iPod/iPhone that's hooked up to it. I had been putting my phone in the cup holder, buuuut that made me nervous. Hence the arm.

Good riddance to physical media ;)

Also: Here's my car from earlier today, during my random trip to the Poconos.
