Has anyone ever swapped out their headrests for a different kind? I really like on newer cars you can tilt the headrests forward, like on my friend's scion tc. I wasn't sure what would fit and how it would look, so just wondering if anyone has done this..

Not to my knowledge. But if you want to try I have 4 extra headrests that you can buy from me.

I think there really would only be 2 factors in determining if other headrests fit:
The distance between the 2 'posts'
The gauge or 'thickness' of each post
I think those would be similar from car to car, but have never tried to change them, so I'm not sure.

that and possibly the slots on the posts where they would lock into place... but that can b fixed.

I swapped my headrest. I put the rears up front and the fronts in the trash:D
Did this mod a few days after i got the car. I hated having to wear my hat frontwards while driving. so i was gonna throw em all out and looked to see if they fit in the front, they did with a nice and low profile. Now the fronts don't fit in the back.........ehhhh.... to tall to fit. So thank you Park's trash service fo disposing of all my unneeded xd components.

Just wanted to point out that I'd rather wear my cap forwards than have a snapped neck if someone rearends you. Good luck getting anything from insurance on any head/neck injury too...
And btw jpg01, don't go with the VW ones from ebay. They're super friggin narrow and small cuz they're from the back seat.

well the rear head rest serves the same purpose as the front it just allows me to be comortable while driving. Plus the only people that sit in the back seat aeren't tall enough to gain anything from a headrest. They have headrest built into their booster and carseats. So If I do get into an accident and break my neck you can say "I told ya so" but until then It's my car and my life. I never said anyone had to follow my lead.

Not to stir anything up, but what about someone sitting in the front passenger seat? I don't know how low the rear headrest sits in comparison to the fronts, I didn't think it would make a difference between hitting your hat and not hitting your had when wearing it backwards?

rears are about 1/2 the height. Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't care what you do. I'm just saying it might not be the safest choice.

Ehh, I think he'll be OK one way or another. He isn't the first person to do it either.

I'll give that a try today, BTW most Koreans are not tall anyway so should be a good fit.

OK, first, the front headrest do fit in the rear seats. You just have tio fold the rears down and then install them. BUT, you cant see jack with them there.
Second, The rears in the front are still adjustable, i am 6'5'' and i can sit comfortably and rest my head on my headrest. I have the rears in the front.
Third, are yall arguing about the hat breaking a neck or the headrest?
Fourth, Peteskeet, right now lay it out, do you actually own an elantra? Are you a hyundai fan or not? How old are you?

I was just pointing out what I was looking for in case people were confused. Besides, the black wouldn't look good with the grey leather!
My innocent thread turned into a heated debate about headrests! sheesh

Thanks for your help, Hyunelan2!

For the record, I've always wanted Honda Accord style headrests with the "hole" in them. So if anyone finds out if they fit that would be cool. Although, matching the leather would be difficult.

I like the rx8 wankel triangle headrest although it would be dumb on an elantra.

I like these too. My .02 is that putting the rear headrests on the front seats reminds of the early 90's ford seats :headshake
