After coming back from the car meet. My car got broken into last night. They stole my camera, face plate for the head unit, ipod, and subwoofers. But or well, it was my fault cause I think I left the doors unlocked, I was so damned tired I really dont remember.

Calm down Evan. Although I agree it was a stupid comment.

Black, sorry to hear about the break in. Right after we were all admiring the car too, that's gotta feel like poop.

Some hoser tried to break in to my car which was locked. All they managed to do was get the door handle bucket loose and scatch up the paint. At some point I'll have to make a "mod" that puts a steel plate in behind the handle bucket so even if you manage to pry it out you cant get to the unlock mechanism. $1000 damage trying to steal a $200 head unit. Assuming they wouldn't take whole car and strip it. Lots of crack heads near where I work so it's always a gamble if your car is going to be there at the end of the day.

Feel for ya bud.

well a few months after I got my egt, I installed my 4 year old jvc deck in and someone smashed my window and tried to steal the deck (didn't get it but messed it up) and cost me a new window and broken glass all over my car with scratches in the leather and paint.

sorry to hear bout your stuff, at least the car wasn't stolen.

Been there too dude so I feel for ya. It was some idiot that didn't know what they were doing. So after trying to steal the whole car and HU (both unsucessful attempts) all they got away with was my amp leaving me with 3k's worth of damage. Sucks man. Your car just never feels the same after something like that.

Not to stray too far off topic, but that's a really good idea. If you come up with that, let us know, hopefully to prevent more threads like this.

i got home from the meet and my neighbor came up and told me someone tried to punch in the locks on his jimmy. he said hes taking the system out since he thinks thats what theyre going for. believe me when i say i was periodically looking out the window last night and had my cuffs and gun waiting for someone.

well my hu didn't get stolen at the impound w/ the rest of my stuff but I had saftey pin needles and 3 box cutter razor blades glued to the brackets just in case someone tried to steal it there would at least be blood as evidence. i wish the guy would have went for the headunit...

^^I think you could get sued for something like that. It's like the whole "if a robber gets hurt inside your house while robbing you, he could sue and win". BS but I think that's how it would go down.

I caught a guy trying to break into my car once

claimed it was HIS car and he locked his keys inside

so I hit the unlock button on my keychain and asked him if that helped

he just ran away really fast

Last time someone tried to break into my car (the XD), I had my .44 Magnum long barrel pointed at them. I told them next time I catch the bastard on my property, I won't have this, but my 50 caliber rifle instead. Naturally, they ran away real fast.

I do have a camera with a night vision lens pointed at my car and those cars parked near it.

def like the idea of a night vision lens camera

I bought mine for 250 bucks. Has sound and is in color (not necessarily with the night vision lens). I actually have it inside the window (I move it between the bedroom and living room windows) and it is almost out of sight. Since it is focused on my car and that is out in the open/public area, that is legal.

i dont know why you would have let him run colin.

the main reason i bought my 9mm S&W is for a target range gun, but it doubles very nicely for home protection. i happen to have 2 sets of police-grade handcuffs that are usually somewhere i can easily get to them.

if i caught someone breaking into my ****, i would have a) cell phone, b) 9mm, c) handcuffs, and i would be out there in a heart beat. they would then have the pleasure of cuffing themselves up and walking away from my car and somewhere with me until the cops came

I am somewhat limited under state law when deadly force is used. I also have high power weapons and the liklihood of killing someone is greater than a 9mm or .38. Having a hollow point slug in the .44 Magnum will not only go through someone (and go through the person behind him) it will also send shrapnel spreading in both bodies. WA RCW code says that deadly force can only be used if you fear you are in danger of being killed. Having someone break into a car doesn't qualify as meeting that criteria. I had a former student (who was always in trouble) stealing cars and when he stole a car, the owner did shoot him in the head. That owner did go to prison for 6 years as a result of the "crime" of defending ones property.

I do feel that we should be able to legally shoot those that steal from a person regardless of what it is.

i mean, im not about putting one in the head and killing someone, but i would not hesitate putting one in their leg or kneecap so theyre not getting anywhere quickly

That's smart, right there. It's sad to see how many people say things like "I would kill someone for doing that" or "I would beat their face in"..etc.

What does that prove? Nothing. I would much rather handcuff them and get the satisfaction of watching them put in the back of a cop car with a smirk on my face, knowing that I wouldn't be joining him because of a temper problem.

yeah. my s/n isnt peteskeetex06. im not gonna kill someone for doing dumb **** but i will make it hell for them

thats why when i got the gun and he asked what i was using it for, and i told him target shooting #1, and home protection #2, he asked if i wanted hollow points. i was like...yeah, thats ok. regular bullet should be more than enough to stop someone

Here, a review is done when deadly force is used (for gun usage) and the cops are investigating it. Even if a shooter hits them in the leg, there is a possibility that it will not be justified.

It makes me wonder however, why these stupid laws that prevent us from defending our property are on the books. It should be that if someone is stealing from you, you have the legal right to use the force to stop them even if that means killing someone.

Criminals have too many rights. 90% of the kids I now work with need a foot up their *** every time they decide to cause trouble. Today, I had 2 kids return to the center when they left here 2 weeks ago. They get a slap on the hand and kindly told not to do it again, but they do not listen to that.

Bad decision man. When you decide to use deadly force you aim center mass and shoot to kill. You injure someone, you will end up paying for their disability the rest of your life.

If you get a chance, read the book Starship troopers by Robert Heinlein. I think you will like many of the ideas he has in there, especially regarding crime and punishment.

FYI, the book has little in common other than a name with the POS movie they made a few years back.

You also have to be cautious of when/how/where you should do it. WA RCW code states I cannot use deadly force if someone is stealing my car and I am not physically in it, but could IF the criminal has a weapon and I saw him attempt to crab it. If someone broke in my house with me inside, I do have the right to use such a weapon.

If you get a chance, read the book Starship troopers by Robert Heinlein. I think you will like many of the ideas he has in there, especially regarding crime and punishment.

Funny thing is, I work with criminals. They don't have their head screwed on straight most of the time.

:( sorry this happened dude..

i know how you feel... i had my face plate and some other stuff jacked from my explorer a few years ago when i lived in MD....

i felt so violated.. it was like i'd rather them taken the whole car instead of leaving me with only a peice of something i loved.
