Well today is the day I get my damned security deposit back from my Biatch former slumlord I mean landlord. It took almost 5 weeks for her to send me my money. Plus on top of all that I also got a bill from the health department for my daughter's blood tests and all that jazz. So I forwarded it to the landlord and my lawyer. He said if she doesn't pay the bill I will own her. :D :D :D Plus On a really good note we had boogie's lead checked on thursday last week and her lead level has dropped considerably since we moved out of that hellhole. So that is evidence that the house was definitely the cause of the extreme levels.

Good to hear that the levels have dropped. However, I still suggest keeping on top of her health and having regular lead test results done by your doctor and health department (your doctor should have the results on file).
Keep us posted.

the doctor asks that we get blood work done every 3 weeks, and the results are sent to the health department as well. We are going to a specialist to check her development progress compared to other babies with no lead levels. So that is what it stressing me out them most. I don't foresee her having any problems but I'm not an expert she's a happy, reasonably healthy, 20 month old child. She had some problems early on with a virus she got when she was a week old. We spent 3 weeks at the hershey medical center because they didn't expect her to survive but she's tough. She's my Boogie. I couldn't live without her.

At least they got you your money back. If she tries to stiff you on the health bills, give her hell for it.

I'd give her hell anyway. Lead is nothing to **** with.

It is a good thing you got your money back. My friend fought a year-and-a-half long legal battle (in courts and everything) to get his security deposit back. The slumlord wasn't even saying he wouldn't give it back, just one of those "oh, the check's in the mail" sort of things for over a year. He dodged subpoenas for months, before my buddy hired a P.I., who sat at the bottom of his driveway for 3 days before he was able to serve him.
He eventually got the money, plus court fees, but apparently this slumlord hadn't ever refunded anyone's security deposit in all the years of renting out his building- which means he made quite a lot of money by being a douchebag owner of a 12-unit building.

I hope everything works out.

If you ask me, kids don't get enough lead anymore. Mmm, lead.
Did the slumlord disclose that there could be lead paint present? I know where I live slumlords have to disclose that (state law).. Mostly only occurs in buildings built prior to 1975. Check your rental agreement (paperwork) 'cause if that was disclosed, you don't really have much of a chance of winning a lawsuit.
Very important question to ask when looking for a place to live.. "When was it built".. Don't go for anything older than 1975.
There's no real easy way to get rid of lead paint. Esentially you have to rip out all the painted surfaces and replace them. Big time $$.

Waivers and things like that don't really mean jack. They just keep those who aren't serious from suing. A good lawyer will rip apart a waiver easily in court.

we never signed a lease. She said she had one for us but she never brought it around (like she never had anything fixed that needed fixed) She actually works for the housing authority.(wtf?) I wish i could have her fired. She claims that she new nothing about lead paint although her and her husband only bought the house last september. Hmmmm sounds fishy to me. Her husband is a contractor and didn't to ask when it was renovated and how? So we shall see how this plays out. I think I may try to get my lost wages from her too for the 6 days i had to take off to move. Since I used up my vacation time earlier in the year.
