Definitely a fan of the Bugatti, amazing vehicle. I would never go that fast... never. I'm a scaredy cat I guess.

^ I am sorry to hear that James. Many might think that this was an average internet idiot talking out of his arse, but without a doubt in my mind, if I was offered the chance to top out that car, on that track, I would say yes without even batting my eyes.

I would go that fast if I had a Bugatti and 5 miles of test track. otherwise give me the M3.

though I do like the brake lights blinking on the Veyron, kind of attention getting (which is good)

253mph, thats insane for a stock car, but Bugatti was made for racing.

the special switch is awesome.

Wooh! Veyron FTMFW!

It was the fastest production car for a while, but I think something recently surpassed it.

Ah, found it. Shelby Super Cars (SSC) created a car called the Ultimate Aero TT and it set the new benchmark at 257.41 mph. It finished the competition with an average top speed of 256.14 mph. And they actually made this car to beat the Veyron. lol

Mark this day on the calendar . . . . .I'm with Jimmy. Sometimes, there is such a thing as "Too much car". Give me a track prepped car with racing rubber and I'm all over it. A street car with street tires no way Jose or hose B.

Sledgehammer Corvette...

254.76 mph

This was done how long ago? I am always under-impressed with supercars and their performance for the price. And to whoever said the Veyron was for racing...what type of racing? The type that takes place on abandoned runways? Salt flats? It quarter miles ok, but for about 1/20 the price you can go faster in the quarter mile too...so what type of racing is that car good at again?

It'd be cool to see the Veyron in a NASCAR race. The funny thing is at top speed the fuel and tires are gone in less than 15 minutes - not sure how that would compare to NASCAR but they don't do 250mph either.

the guy in the BMW looked like he needed some driving lessons...

and I'm also curious as to what type of racing the veyron was built for...

the kind when you need 1.12 jiggawatts and when 88mph just doesnt cut it anymore

saturn
10-06-2007, 04:07 PM
the kind of racing where you don't ever actually go that fast in the car, but you feel good knowing you can...

if they put performance rubber on the car, it'd have no traction at normal legal speeds.

it's an old man "look at me" car. it's amazing and pretty but I'd rather have the BMW.

The race to your midlife crisis? The race to have the most expensive car ever?

i'd take the m3, WTF is the insurance like on the bugatti if you can even get it through a regular company.

saturn
10-06-2007, 05:37 PM
you probably can't get it through a normal company since it's an exotic car. so I'm assuming if you can afford a Bugatti you can afford the special insurance too.

at least you could get regular old State Farm with the BMW.

Forget the Bugatti, I found a new favorite car..which is actually affordable.

I remember reading a lot about the Callaway vette a few years ago. I think it was a 1988 Corvette. It wasn't a production car though, there was only 1. And the supposed high speed was never officially documented. They thought about producing them and selling them for $400,000 each, but that never happened. I wonder how accurate that top speed is, considering it isn't official...

Since I'll never have any where near enough money for the Veyron I'll take this (http://auto-europe-sales.ebizautos.com/webdetail.aspx?iid=1797887). Especally since I'll probably never get over to Germany and get them to close a section of the autobahn down just so I can drive the Veyron as fast as it'll go.

this is the first time I've heard of the Amex Black, so I looked it up. Intriguing card, I wouldn't mind having one but I don't think that I will ever make enough to be invited. C'est la vie

there are 17,000 at the moment, as reports tend to agree on that number.
