"..and a brand new Aero interface that let's you scroll through blue screens, black screens, red screens, security warnings, and endless yes/no permission questions all in eye-popping 3-D!"

:abovelol: Hahahaha.

Dunno. Although Vista has it's flaws, I think it our [humans] resistance to change that makes it look worse. I remember when XP launched, and all the hardcore computer users thought it was the worst thing ever (then running Win98 if a gamer, Win2000 if not). By that token, if Vista is worse than XP, and XP was worse than 98/2K, we should all go back to Win95.

Win95 was badddddd ....

Win 98 and 2000 were the most stable and least ressources hungry, XP is not that bad if you remove all the eye-candy and un-usefull stuff.

But Vista have early version flaws AND is a ressource hole even with the eye-candy stuff out.

Also the 3D rendering is really bad (either for games or 3D softwares), the same computer is faster on XP, and I'm not talking about a P4 1.8Ghz with 512MB DDR 400, I'm talking about the computer we use here at work : CoreDuo or CoreDuo 2, 2 to 4 GB DDR2 667 with GF 7800/7900/8600/8800 128MB to 256MB ... ;)

What?!? 2000, yes, probably most stable platform ever, but 98! WTF are you smoking? 98 would crash just for fun. Better than 98, slightly less crashes than ME, but still terrible.

well on my side 98 was 1000x more stable than ME, had my share of BSOD on 98 but as soon as you run it bare (with only keyb/mouse and integrated graphics) it's pretty stable and lot better than 95! Even ME would crash for no reason with a bare system! What I hated the most about 98 was the network, I'm pretty sure it's network reliability was based on astrology!!! lolll

The one I loved the most was NT and 2000, they were hard to bring down and could run 24/7 for quite a time without the need to restart.

I thought I had a copy of it, but found out that it was just an upgrade. I was tempted to install it on a free partition and see what it would run like on my beast.

we should just all go back to 3.1... that was the most stable seeing as how it was originally apple source code

on one of today's computers, you wouldn't be able to see the pointer move when you move the mouse, it would happen so fast.

Although I haven't had the pleasure (or displeasure) to use Vista, I think Mike is probably on the right track.

About the video, I like the Ce, Me, NT part.

One word...3 letters.... DOS didn't get any more stable than that.

Yeah, Xp had the same crap reviews until SP2 came out. Maybe all Vista needs is a good service pack, then everyone will pull a 180 like they did with XP.

I'll definitely be willing to try it again after a service pack is released, that's for sure.

Yeah, that and if game/software compatibility issues get worked out.

i sell computers at work....the lowest mb you can run with vista is 512. To make it run effeciently you need 1GB of ram. plus I have to tell customers they either need to buy a new printer or buy a patch through microsoft. Which is the most retarded thing ever. VISTA flipped a 180 from previous windows systems. Thats why it sucks arse.

You'd run a vista on a computer with 512MB of ram?

I wouldn't buy a computer with less than 3GB to run vista.

I didn't think you could buy a computer with less than 512MB RAM anymore, I hope you can't.

funny vid!
tho.. its funny cos its true!

i like the prettyness of vista... but i personally dont think il run it for a while yet
(apart from the fact that none of my machines will run it without $$$ being thrown at them to get them up to spec to comfortably run the damn proggy)

i remember upgrading from 3.14 to 95... that was special!
then to 98 - i liked 98 better over 95 personally.

xp to me, just seemed like a much fresher apprearance to the old look / feel / layout. it was sorta familiar to look at... but a much nicer proggy to use (IMO)

microsoft are realeasing updates for vista atm - its kinda funny... i was watching someone who had only had it for 2weeks.. downloading over 100mb in updates for it!!!

same as xp tho, will become much more user friendly and whatnot when there is a SP made avail (as long as they dont do an SP1 and realise that it didnt fix anything so rush a SP2 out to fix it again lol)
