OK, There was a thread around here about how our rear view mirrors rattle, I have the same problem. I have an XD2 ....hopefully its similar to the XD.

There aretwo parts one that is glued to the window, and then the bracket , I dont know how they are attached, ( didnt take it apart)

The rattle is not from the actualmirror but from these two parts , the bracket that holds themirror and the piece that attaches to the windshield that the bracket is connected to.

What I did is I took some string and forced inbetween these two pieces and kept wrapping it around until I didnt feel any movement. The string is acting as a pad between these two pieces, cut off the excess and force the ends in there as well, so you dont see anything.

Took it for a short drive, and I dont hear the rattle anymore, I will be doing a 100mile commute herein a little bit and I will report back.

If this works, its a quick cheap fix. I took a picture, I will try to upload tonight.

What do you guys think?

As I said I couldnt find the original thread on this topic, feel free to move it

Yeah, at least for me (on an xd) it was the cover for the bracket and the bracket itself that were rattling (particularly with the music pumped up). When my windshield cracked and I needed to get a new one, the rattle went away. However, with my music habits its probably only a matter of time before it comes back :(

This did fix the problem, no more rattle.

Every time I think it's my mirror, I find my wife's little girly sunglasses in the sunglasses holder rattling. . . go figure. At least mine's a real simple fix.
