^^ Well, if they make it a 3 or 4 door then it's not a coupe.. Just like saturn fked up the SC1/2 when they made it 3 door. More than 2 doors = NOT a coupe.

Those pictures can't be that new. The Genesis sedan next to it still has the KDM grill on it. And since the sedan is already on sale (and has been for two months), that makes me thinks the pictures are a bit old. Does that matter? No. The car still looks good.

Probably from Concours d'Elegance or maybe during the AT&T Pro-Am.

I like everything about it, except for the fact that the coupe only has 2 doors.

Ah, that's what makes a coupe, a coupe...2-doors. So you're saying you would like the Coupe more if it had 4-doors?

Of the colors I've seen this car in so far, I think silver is the best. Then maybe the Orange that was on the one I saw at the Chicago Auto Show. I think the blue is terrible. Red and yellow are both 'ok'.

I personally like 4 doors, they are so much more user friendly and convey the sleeper look sooo much better, but this GC is soo damn sexy. I'll take one in white, base, 2.0T 6-spd with the track package (brembos and wheels/tires)

carving in another door on the coupe would totally mess up the lines of the car.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Bj4hqn2sRy4/R5QvoP6JgAI/AAAAAAAAAXU/Ye5ZuHou-ns/DSCF0164.jpg

If you want 4 doors, buy a 4 door but don't ask to have a perfectly good looking coupe screwed up by adding another door. Screws up the looks, geometry, weight and god knows what else. Adding a 3rd door would immediately take the coupe off my list of wanted cars.

Yeah I know but that's the first one that came to mind with the 2 door to 3 door coupe.

I hear ya, that's why I have a 4 door. Kids and car seats change your mind real quick about what kind of car to buy. But... if you have the luxury of a 2nd car, why not have a hot a$$ 2 door.

WTF are you talking about? Who said FWD was a sports car? Put down the crack pipe and step away.

Exactly. Sporty, maybe but not a sports car.

From Hyundai.

(Seoul, Korea) The Genesis Coupe, Hyundai Motor Co.´s eagerly awaited performance car, promises to stop just as fast as it goes. Premium high performance disc brakes from Brembo will be available as part of an optional track–use performance package.

For the Genesis Coupe´s front 18–inch wheels, Brembo engineers developed 13.4–inch x 1.1–inch rotors (340mm x 28mm) and four–pot fixed calipers (42mm+42mm) while the rear setup features 13.0–inch x 0.78–inch rotors (330mm x 20mm) gripped by four–pot fixed calipers (32mm+28mm).

"By specifying Brembo brakes we are sending a strong message about the performance capabilities of the Genesis Coupe," said Dr. Hyun–Soon Lee, president of the Corporate Research and Development Division. "Among car aficionados, Brembo´s oversized calliper design is recognized as one of the hallmarks of a high performance car. They grab attention and will force people to take a second, closer look at the Genesis Coupe," said Dr. Lee.

At the highest level of international motorsports, Brembo´s signature fixed monobloc brake callipers and oversized rotors are recognized as delivering the ultimate in braking performance. The Italian brake manufacturer is acknowledged as the world leader in high performance braking systems and is a supplier to the world´s best–known formula racing teams as well as Italian and German manufacturers of supercars and sports cars.

Brembo´s superlative brakes provide the perfect match to the Genesis Coupe´s high output engines. The base Genesis Coupe will be equipped with a turbocharged 2–liter Theta engine pumping out an estimated 212 horesepower while for enthusiasts who demand pure unadulterated performance, Hyundai will offer a high performance–tuned 3.8–liter V–6 Lambda delivering 300–plus horsepower.

The Genesis Coupe´s rear–wheel drive architecture endows it with an ideal front–rear weight distribution that is a pre–requisite for handling excellence and Brembo brakes promise to further enhance the Genesis Coupe´s driving experience.

The first Hyundai to be ever fitted with Brembo brakes, the Genesis Coupe is stirring anticipation and excitement as its official launch date draws nearer. The first Genesis Coupe is due to arrive in Korean showrooms in September this year while international sales are due to start in the first quarter of 2009.

GENESIS COUPE HIGHLIGHTS

– Hyundai´s first rear–wheel drive sports car
– 306 horsepower (est.)from enhanced 3.8–liter V6 from Genesis sedan
– Std. 212 horsepower (est.) turbocharged, intercooled inline four cylinder
– Genesis Coupe arrives in North America in the spring of 2009

Brembo, headquartered in Italy and with industrial facilities in nine countries, is a recognized world leader and design innovator of disc brake technology for high–performance vehicles. It supplies brake systems to the most exciting brands of passenger car and motorcycle worldwide. Brembo has proven leadership also in motorsports with its products winning more than 200 world championships to date.

official members only press release

2010 hyundai genesis coupe to differ from its korean counterpart official!
Despite some labor issues that hyundai korea is facing
we’ve been told by a reputable source within hyundai
that the u.s. Market car will indeed be different
underneath the skin to that of the korean (kdm)
counterpart. Our hyundai contact has given us
permission to release the following limited information
regarding the us spec 2010 hyundai genesis coupe:
1. The us spec. Bk will have a completely unique suspension system from the korean domestic market version
(kdm).
2. Us engineers were fully empowered to design and develop their own shocks, springs, stabilizer bars, tires, etc.
What does this all mean to you?
The typical korean demographic looks for softer, comfortable,
more refined feeling to the ride characteristics of their
automobiles. Largely this is due to the lack of interest in
automobile racing sports by the general public. Also the roads in
korea are not the best, requiring softer riding suspensions in
order to give a smooth ride.
What about the us market?
Many car enthusiasts among the american public are highly
interested in the performance of cars, both in acceleration and
handling. Motor sports are very popular in the united states
and the general demographic are attracted to higher performing
vehicles. With that being said, the us spec genesis coupe will no doubt have higher performance handling
characteristics compared to the kdm version; much like its us market sibling the genesis sedan has better handling
compared to the kdm genesis sedan.
Hyundai track testing
what type of suspension will the genesis coupe have?
It will likely have a dual link macpherson strut front suspension, and 5 link independent rear suspension as reported by
many news sources. However as noted above, the shocks, spring rates, stabilizer bar sizes, and tires are all customized
for the us market.
Examples of a dual link macpherson strut front suspension (also note the brembo brake package to be offered on the
genesis coupe):
Examples of 5 link independent rear suspension:
Look to http://genesisforums.org for your source of exclusive insider information on the 2009 hyundai genesis sedan
and 2010 hyundai genesis coupe.

In that it says that the Brembo brakes are optional and not standard with the 19" wheels and LSD!!!!!

To simplify ordering, US market cars always have options grouped together in packages. Just look at Hyundai's current cars. Aside from floormats and dealer installed accessories all options are grouped into packages. It only stands to reason they'll do the same with the Coupe.

hyunelan2
09-25-2008, 11:00 AM
The car we rode in was a base V-6–powered model, so there were no Brembo brakes or 19-inch wheels or firmed-up suspension, all of which will characterize the top-spec SE trim level when the car is released early next year.

FWIW, that's what C&D said on the matter.

Hyundai announces NO convertible for Genesis.
http://www.hyundai-blog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/hyundai-genesis-coupe-cabrio.jpg

Hyundai Genesis Coupe cabriolet

Unfortunately, Hyundai Motor America has killed speculations and rumors that it will bring a convertible version of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe to the market!

Mr. Miles Johnson, manager of product public relations at Hyundai Motor America has denied rumors stating Hyundai has been developing a cabrio variant of Genesis Coupe.

He told that Genesis Coupe wasnt developed to be a convertible from the ground up. “It was developed as a global car. The wind in your hair doesn’t work in Korea, and there’s not enough volume in the U.S.” said Miles.

According to his statement, there are no plans for any future Hyundai convertibles, although some sources indicate that the use of retractable hardtops has already been slated for some future Hyundai products.

Too bad Genesis Coupe will never become a production reality! Judging from these great (photoshoped) photos, Hyundai could have made a great-looking convertible!
