I've been away for a while. When I was here, FI was mostly a bunch of dreams. A few, and I stress, a few were trying it. But now it seems commonplace. A couple of questions:

What compressors are you all using?
Anyone running a BT setup?
Average power?

What's the software world looking like? Any major chip tuners on board? So many things have changed...oy!

Wow. 50+ views and no responses? Some one has to have answers...

Welcome back. Depending on how long you've been gone, you'll find more turbos and even currently one XD S/C (me).

I think people are actually being nice to you and waiting for you to read through the FI forum and roll calls and find out that way, rather than suggesting it.

Bascially what kylemorg said. I don't feel like answering, everything is there. If you really want to know you can see for yourself ;)

Off the top of my head I can think of: tdo4-13gs, td04-15t, td05-14b, td05-16g, GT2876R, t3/t4 hybird
Anyone running a BT setup?

Tuning options include: the Perfect Power SMT-6, Apexi NEO, Unichip (not favored), and I've gotten some info on the Haltech E8 ( have the wiring diagram) and am working with AEM for a PnP harness.

Cypher. Thanks. Kyle and Kewl...always appreciate the ball busting.

I did page through to roll calls, but really came up with the same thing over and over. Small mitsu turbos.

BT=Big Turbo. The 2876 is getting there. I'm thinking GT30rs, T4S60, 20g mitsu. I've got a Disco Potato sitting in my closet...

Kyle, is that the Alpine S/C kit? The one Ford kept having problems with back in the day, or is it something new and exciting? I'll go look and see if you have a build thread like a good forum monkey

Thanks guys.

+1 to see the disco potato come out the closet.

theres a member on gt3071r on RDT. honestly, you don't need that huge of a turbo to make good power and pull some good numbers at the track.

Thanks, but it's gonna be on my VW...I'm still KDM-less for a bit.

I was just curious what the spool/lag was like on the 2.0L motors with your port configuration. I'd imagine the biggest turbo for DD and AutoX/Road Course use would be the Disco(GT28rs) or the T3/T4 hybrid. Well, I guess a 2871r wouldn't hurt...

LOL, the Disco Pot is a GT2860R or GT28RS, so my GT2876R is a Disco with a MUCH bigger compressor wheel! :)

did you bother to look at mayollo's dyno? he has the t3/t4 hybrid. Jongtr also runs a 60-1 and his car is a DD

I did look at all 4. I assumed (there was the problem) that with the same power numbers across all 4 (except Ish, his TQ was nuts!) they were running very similar turbos. I'm just a bad reasearcher. Hell, I've read Max. Boost and still didn't learn anything until I started building set-ups.

dmdicks, I'll go look for a build thread. I'm curious to see a dyno. I also see your in Denver...do any racing at PMI down south? I'd love to run some laps with that beast!

Couldn't you swap the 4g63 in the 90's era elantras? I read all about it when HP.com was up.

yes when they had mitsubishi motors. 96 and earliers. His tib is an 98 which comes with the HYUNDAI beta1 motor.

Ok ok. No need to get all riled up about it. I was off by 2 years. Sorry. I have a hard time keeping numbers straight.

not really riled up, just confused at first why you thought he had a mitsu block.

Choking -- I wasn't really trying to bust your balls, just to basically answer your question...

yep, I've got the alpine S/C kit but with the smaller pulley for more boost; I got the S/C used about 3 months old for around $2K from a guy on NT. I haven't gotten dyno or 1/4 mile info yet since I'm still tuning it (the Alpine Unichip tuning was pretty poor). I might run it on the strip next summer, but I'm not sure.

Regardless of the actual dyno or 1/4 mile the S/C with the smaller pulley and a slightly better tune really makes the Elantra pull strong.

As for it being Alpine, the only things that were actually made by Alpine was the IM and the belt guide wheels (and the unichip base map). The S/C is an Eaton MP45, the electronics are built by Unichip and I'm not sure what brand the 5th injector is. There's really not much "Alpine" to it.

the S. A. Alpine business seems to be going through another very unstable , unreliable time right now, so you might want to stay away from them if you weren't already.
