anyone here ever use led's in the dome/maplights? everyone talks about led's in the hvac/cluster/power window switchs, but what about in the map/dome light? im a tech at a chrysler/toyota dealership and i got to work on my first chrysler aspen(no big woop! unless you knew what was wrong! everyone would love to hear that story!), anyway, i hadnt see it yet, but the interior lights(map/dome lights) were led's and almost looked like hids! really nice and bright AND white. im going to look into this.

the lights up there are a socket type... it'd be best to find a direct LED replacement... I just can't remember which type of bulb they are.
try here:
http://autolumination.com/festoon.htm
search around, the bulb types are mentioned in a thread, I just can't find it. -- EDIT -- found it on elantraclub:

the bulbs for the map/dome are 3175, which would be the festoon LEDs in the link above. look at the ones in your car and make sure you order ones that will physically fit in the space provided.

go to pep boys, they have a rectangular circuit board filled with white LED's for 20 bucks... it also comes with all sorts of different adapters so it can be used in multiple locations. i currently have it in my dome light for when my doors are open, much better looking than the old crappy BLUE leds i had and the oem bulb.

lol that last picture of SFR is fake/photoshoped.
100$ is a waste of money for that crap, pep boys has the same thing for 20 bucks man...
2 rows or 4 leds each, side by side. = lots of light. more than stock bulbs.
i have 1 in my dome piece, and one in my trunk xD
GO TO PEPBOYS!

I would just get the one from the autolumination site, they have different sizes so you'll be sure to get one that fits, plus you can get LEDs for other bulbs in/on the car.

were losing our pepboys! store closing! i really dont care, i never shop thier anyway.as soon i get some money, im going to autolumination.com and picking up some led bulbs for the map/dome lights. one more question, the map lights over the rearview mirror, should i get the concentrated beam style or teh one they have that has leds all the way around the bulb?

honestly... ive tried different kinds of led's in the map lights... and none ive tried light up the area as well as the regular glass bulbs do... so i just left the stockies in there... i barely ever use those anyways so its all good.
I have tried LEDs from autolumination, I am using the 6 LED Super High Flux for my front 2 map lights (passenger and driver), they are quite bright. I have also the 8 LED Super High Flux, it is about the same size as the 6 one, but it is like less bright and I believe they have different LEDs even though they are both labelled as Super High Flux.
If you need a super bright one, I have one for my rear, http://www.oznium.com/led-domelight, the 25 LED one, it is almost blinding and you really cannot drive with it switched on if driving at night.
