I have a 2005 elantra GLS,, well all i did was take the little "cubby" that was underneath the cd player and switched it's location to above the cd player. Ive been thinking of this little mod for awhile and finally did it this morning. After a few pintched fingers its all snug and lookin good. Not a huge change but i did notice its alot easier to reach the cd player controls now all i have to do is reset all the settings back to where they were on the deck so i can be bumpin again. Just wondering if anyone else had done this too?

:worthless:
I've been thinking of doing the same to make my gauges i have mounted in the spare cubby easier to read.

i wanted to move my radio all the way to the bottom in my 2003 gls... but the hvac mounts are narrower than the top mounts... so it wont fit... :(

i wanted it all the way at the bottom too but like you said its too narrow. Sry no pics but i bet u get the idea
OLD
CDplayer on top
cubby in middle
heat air controls on bottom
NEW
cubby on top
cd player in middle
Heat air controls on bottom
it was pretty easy to do, one thing i ran into was at first the cubby was just to high for the dash to go back on so i had to squeeze my fingers in there and pull down on the cubby and the dash snapped back on thats where my fingers were gettin pinched.

lol... i tried that whole radio in the middle thing... n it just seems kinda... awkward to me...
im thinking that maybe if i can fab up some metal brackets for the hvac, i could make it fit at the top... leave the cubby in the middle, and then maybe... shave off the brackets on the radio just enuff to where it fits in the bottom, and still has enough material to be securely held in place... hmmm

Cool. That's how all us multigauge people have it.

The head unit can be relocated to the bottom. It does not change from top to bottom. What changes is the mounting positions forward and aft. I'll post up what I did in a few minutes.

uh... maybe in your car it doesnt change, but in my 2003 gls... it does change... as u go up from the hvac towards the head unit position... the opening gets slightly wider... to the point where nothing lines up... putting the radio at the bottom would be too wide... and putting the hvac higher would be too narrow...
vice versa...

^^Only because you drive an 04 or better Snake. In ours, the HVAC lines up with the cubby and HU. Just appears different size because of the trim panel.
