Ah well. I have another dent on "White Monster" I was going around a very tight turn, going very very snow, slid on ice, and hit a guardrail, going i don't know like 5 MPH lol. its almost funny. yay. P.s This car sucks so bad in the snow.( snow, no ice ) its going to be a great winter! Lol. Next car is going to have ABS, TRC, and hopefully EBD.

Sorry to say this, but it's driver error... You should learn how to react when driving in snow.

Do you have snow tires?

Time for some tires, or some needed experience in snow driving. My Elantra (no ABS, no TCS) has always done very well in the snow. With my new tires (all seasons, not even dedicated winter tires) I had no troubles getting around in the snow and ice storm last weekend.

Even without snow tires (I've never had any) it's still driver error. Every nanny device on the planet will not help you on ice. Period.

I watch so many 'tards on the roads in an ice storm stomp on the brakes in the lexus/cadillac/infiniti that has every device known to man and goes slidingoff into the ditch or into other cars.

Folks, ABS doesn't understand ice. You stomp the brakes and all 4 tires lock, the ABS module thinks "Cool, we stopped really fast".

yeah sorry, it sucks but i have to agree. ABS TCS etc. are just crutches. they use to build cars w/o all that stuff for years. I rarely had a problem in the snow with my car and never lost control even with 1 BALD tire and 3 summer tires. You should practice in an empty parking lot for a few hours on counter steering. you should spray some primer on that fender so it doesn't rust too.

Not having TCS or ABS is not an excuse for driver error.

Snow tires? No, all-Season. I have the Kumho ECSTA AST 195-50-R15

I am not saying it was not Driver Error, But going so slow? I was barely moving?
For all i know, 50 other people hit the same spot i did Lol. :D

Okay. I did the Parking lot thing, Yeah i don't have experience, And well second winter ever, so okay, driver Error, But what could i have done? really nothing.

All season...

I won't start talking about the benefits of winter tires, I did that too much in the past, haha.

Then again I don't know how much snow you guys get there.

If they are like us, it's not that much of a need. Total snow fall for the entire winter runs between 30-50inches. That's total. Plus, it melts away between snow showers.

i plan on going to a parking lot as well... to get some practice in, in the snow, before heading out into the streets. ive driven in the winter last year... but only in like... wet slush... not actual snow... with the super skinny tires on my old 92 excel. xD

Yup! Most of the snow I get in MI is just lake effect and doesn't stick around on the roads that long (unless it stays really, really cold). Ice is more of a worry for me, but when you hit that, there is not a whole lot you can do (no traction).

Ok, here it is pretty bad. We got about 30cm just today... grr...

But since my car is down I had to go to school with the BMW... So it wasn't that bad ;)

Yeah, I can imagine. If I lived a couple hours further north I would have already bought snow tires. I can't imagine being as far north as you are felix!

RWD FTW! :) BMW does not make FWD do they? just Rear, and 4 wheel?

I drove my 89 Caprice through two of our worst winters back to back. We got about 60" of snow the first year and the second had more ice storms than ever before. Never had an issue. RWD, no ABS, no TCS and an auto.

got 4" here saturday night. went out driving in it. weeeee, alot fun!!! oh, i have dedicated snow tires. ditch the all season and get some snow tires. ice, is another thing. nothing you can do while sliding on ice, but DONT HIT THE BRAKES over ice. it will put you into a spin. *** end will swing around. beleive me, did it at 25mph on an iced up freeway. spun 3 times over 5 lanes of traffic, all the while avoiding every single car on the freeway (there might have been 7 cars). dont ask me how, but i did it. :D
