Here's the next generation XG (code named TG) for those who are interested. I hope they are able to get it out not too long after the NF Sonata because the NF Sonata is going to take up a lot of the current XG sales (which actually might be a good thing). Talks are about putting the 3.3l V6 as the standard engine. And then, if they decide to make a larger, 3.5l V6 or even a V8 in it as an option. We'll have to wait and see about that though.

http://img4.exs.cx/img4/5618/DSCF184.jpg

Hard to say since it's all covered up, but it's going to be slightly bigger and have even more amenities (sp?) that the new NF Sonata and the current XG. I hope it can start to really compete with the likes of the Maxima and Avalon now, we'll see.

Can't wait to see it uncovered... they better put some serious muscle into it (at least as an option) if they want to keep up with the maxima. This post was just in time Super, since the NF is official now, we need a new car to wonder about.

Found this on Carspyshots regarding production dates. The guy who wrote it claims to be in hyundai sales office.

Production on the 06 Sonata starts March 1st in AL. Dealers will receive first stock very shortly thereafter (within the month). Also should mention I found out that the 06 XG is set to arrive in dealerships late summer early fall next year.

good thing they got rid of frameless windows. XG300's windows are leaking wind, leaking water in car wash and so on

Anyone notice the 4 round cutouts in the bumper? Looks like a back up sensor like the Fords have.

I love that on my Santa Fe. Hard to tell a big difference between this car and the new Sonata with it having all its camoflage on.

Still looks like a big elantra to me. Not that that's a bad thing - the old ones did too. But the headlights are definitely elantra-esque, and from spy pics I've seen of the 06/07 (?) elantras, it still has that look to it.

OFF TOPIC] Just yesterday the hubby & I went to the Hyundai dealership (Accent was in the shop) and started looking at the new Tuscons. Well, we decided to see how much we would need to put down to get decent mo. payments. Anyway, I noticed a billboard pic in the showroom of a car, it had a very large grill and it looked pretty cool. I forgot to ask the salesman what kinda of car it was. I was thinking it might of been the new XG, but obviously from the pics here it wasn't. From what I can remember now I think the grill lines were vertical & not horizontal. So I wonder what model was it? [/OFF TOPIC]

It was probably the "LZ450" that was talked about here a while back. It's either a Centennial, Dynasty, or Eqqus... I can't remember it's Korean name.

looks like hyundai is really following through on the "upscale" look. I think the new XG kinda has a A8 shape to it, but I suppose we'll have to wait to see what the actual nose and tail will look like...

The new Sonata looks nice, and I think the new XG will too.... I think the current models somehow manage to scream CHEAP when I look at them.... they're trying to look fancy but they don't pull it off.... These 2 cars will help to fill out Hyundai's lineup nicely, since the rest of it already looks great....

It looks like the NF's big brother, and to me that makes perfect sense. It looks really nice to me, like all the new Hyundais. I guess those are the wheels that are making it into the production model, but I happen to like the other wheels we've seen on it better. One thing I see that I don't like is the shape of the fog lights. I love the trunk lid.

In silver, with interior shots. The dash layout looks kinda plain. Also, they've been using the same door handles (inside) for too long, they should have went with a new design, oh wells.

After seeing the pictures, A+ on the gauges, interior, B-, ***-end is infinityish, exterior styling C+ (front is outta whack in size with the rest of the car). Overall grade of B in my book

That front grill made me do a doubble take. I thought it was an infiniti for a sec. My only gripe about it is that the tail lights remind you so much of the new Sonata, they should've done something new. Though I can see a lot of Inifiniti cues from the overall shape, and that's not a bad thing.

the second link calls the car the TG.... which I think is worse than XG...

Well, here's the story... XG is the chassis code, like XD is for us. In Korea, the XG is called the Grandeur (Grandeur XG), which for some reason (probably copyright or something), they couldn't use that name here in North America. TG will be the new chassis code, which I think is why it will be called the Azera here, because names are better than numbers.

they have a similar overall shape, but that's a common thing for carmakers to do..... look at the overall shape of the neon, stratus and intrepid.... but you wouldn't mistake one for the other....

looks like hyundai is doing the same thing....

automobile magazine has a nice profile picture that shows some odd curves on the xg and they say that the car will come with a 3.3l v6 with only 230hp... i hope thats not true...front end seems a bit plain to me....reminds me of the mazda millenia...

SuperGLS
03-03-2005, 05:39 PM
Yeah, the trunklid is very 745/645ish... looks NICE.

I believe they'll have one with the 3.3l Lambda, same as the V6 Sonata. But, for the North American market they BETTER sell it with the new 3.8l Lambda (I posted about it last week). Although, even with that, I think it could use more power.

you'd think they'd take care to make sure the license plate was straight for such a high-profile public appearance! notice that car also has a back-up warning system.

Just a couple updates and such.

If you guys haven't seen the site before: http://www.hyundaiazera.com/

And here is a Azera Podcast (it's im mp3 format) that is about 10 minutes long, it has lots of good info and insight from various car and Hyundai people.

http://i.tnpv.us/2005/HYU200511/AZERA_Podcast.mp3

The one thing they don't mention is when Navigation will be an option, but I'm sure it'll happen in mid 2006. Also, XM radio is still on it's way to Hyundai.

Still looks like and end of this month release, although I've heard Hyundai wants to make sure they clear out all the old XG's first. Currently you can get $4000 off an XG if you are a current Hyundai owner, so that's pretty good, I bet you could get one near $20,000 with some good bargaining. Of course, who really wants one knowing the Azera is coming out (cheap people I guess).

FYI: In case anyone was wondering, that is the "Limited" trim, with the "Premium" package. The MSRP is $28,995. If it had the "Ultimate" Package, it would be another $1,000. You can now "build your own" on www.hyundaiusa.com if you want to see what each package includes, and color options. I like that there are 2 choices for cloth (beige/gray) and 3 choices for leather (beige/gray/black) colors.

this might sound a bit off-topic, but looking at the stereo, I don't see any XM.... I thought all hyundai's were to have standard XM starting in '06....

Thanks for the pics Mike. Like I posted in my other thread, they didn't have any at my dealership yet.

I think the purple color is called Aubergine. I'd drive the Sage Green with black leather, beautiful stuff. I like how they use light wood with the black and dark wood with the great.

About the XM, from what I understand, it's going to be cars built in 2006, not all of the 2006 models. Strange, I know.

1.WHO DRIVE THERE CAR - HYUNDAI PEOPLE OR DEALER ?

2.WHY IN THE WORLD A TEST CAR NEED A DEALER PLATE DOES HYUNDAI PROVIDE THERE OWN PLATE !

3.IF YOU GO NEAR THE CAR AND LOOK IN THREW THE WINDOWN CAN THEY CALL THE COP ?

It looks tons better in person than in pictures, there was one sitting in the showroom at Giambalvo Hyundai the other day.

I really can't believe that Hyundai went from chroming interior parts (i.e. the door handles) to using Chrome Spray Paint on them. That's really cheesy. I noticed it on the Sonata, it's a shame they do it with the Azera too.
