View Full Version : Is ABS standard on all vehicles?

Also, if it is standard now, in what year did it become standard?

I'm wondering if my cars have ABS b/c they're both second hand cars.

Where is the ABS hardware located? I know they put them under the seats in some makes.

There is a light on the dash that will come on when the key is first turned to the on position before starting. Yellow I think. There will also be sensors with wiring going to each of the wheels. Usually the full zoot high end models have ABS standard.

Look for a big pump and motor with 4 or 5 lines coming out of it.It will be on the passenger side fender area in the engine bay

slam the brakes on some ice and see if your brake pedal pulses at you

XD has TCS if it has ABS. XD has a TCS OFF button if it has TCS. Look for the TCS OFF button near the clock. However, I'm not sure about XD2. It is standard from 2007 (HD).

If your XD has rear disc, you have ABS!

Nope! Mine has rear disc and no ABS. I couldn't find a great picture in the 30 seconds that I spent searching,but we'll just use this one. See the windshield washer tank on the far side of the picture? Look just to the right of that. See the little metal lines going down into a little box? That's the ABS module, and those lines are brake lines. If you have that there, you have ABS. If you do not have that there, then you do not have ABS.

Hmm! I've never seen an XD with rear disc that didn't have ABS!

my truck has rear drum and rear ABS...but its disconnected at the present time :D

My '05 GT 4dr doesn't have ABS.
