Hi All. I just discovered this place a few days ago and havn't been able to stop reading... so much great information!
I have had a 2003 Elantra GT for about 10 months (bought new). I havn't had any problems with the car except for two things. Sometimes I hear a slight vibration coming from the passenger door. If I lean over while driving and press lightly on the door, it stops. Has anybody else had this problem? Is this something that the dealer (or myself) can fix rather easily?
Also, I noticed that on windy days, going over 65mph, my moonroof and tops of the doors whistle like crazy. Anybody else experience this?

yeah i have the door vibration too. only diff is i hear it because my exhaust makes it vibrate. from about 2.5 to 3.2 grand the whole car vibrates tho so i'm not worried about it too much. but yeah the noise is really annoying.

Correct, the door vibration is a simple fix. Just remove the door panel (15 minutes at most the first time doing it) and put something there that will stop the vibration. I heard a cheap way is to use the stuff that is underneath carpet (I can't think of the name now, starts with a J I think). Then reattach the door panel. Next week I'll have my door panel off when I'm switching in the GT door panels and I'll take a couple pics if you want. Good luck, oh, and welcome to the site.

Thanks for such quick replies! Is taking the door panel off hard at all? I sit in an office all day long have never really touched my car at all. :-)
I guess the question is, would you recommend this to a computer geek that has never touched the inside of a car at all?

Like I said, it might take you some time the first time, but after that it'll be no problem. All you have to do is take out some screws, then stick some sort of flat thing (I used a spatula) inbetween the door and the panel, then gently pull the panel away from the door. It is held in by clips, so you have to pop them out, and if you do it gently you won't break any clips. Don't be scared, just give it a try and you'll be set. Good luck.

Man! I'll have to do the fix too, because it's vibrating like a mofo.
Also, I have noticed another sound coming from the back, on the right side.
Anyone else?

I noticed sound from the back also, when i sit in the drivers seat its on my left though..... I have a hatch and i suspect it could be coming somewhere from around the left speaker. Anyone had this issue in a hatch? I ignored it for awhile now by just puttin the music up :) , but its startin to piss me off so ill check it out over the weekend if i have time.

Mine is a hatch too. Winter, a lot of snow, can't test it myself...
Maybe coming from the speaker cover? I don't know. Keep us informed :)
holy **** back from the dead, the whole panel vibrates, use dynomat or sound deadening spray

i got that part, but im talking about whats coming from the back!!! :D
i thought it was the speaker panel also, maybe cause it's mounted on separate "towers" as in sedans it's all in one piece pretty much. Like i said ill take a more serious look this weekend.

i took the door panel off and put dynamat on the door and all. that helped a lot. the vibration from the door is gone. dynamat is the best.

Nah, i think i will do it the jpjr way, using a 'foam'.
ps HOLY CRAP! YOU STILL EXIST DZ! It's been ages you havent posted...
Like i said i looked at my car this weekend. It seems i checked every bolt that could have become loose, but everything seems fine, so idk where the problem may be. :conf: The only thing i can suspect of making the noise (think ripped speaker type squeek on bigger bumps and sometimes out of nowhere on highway) is the plastic crap that is holding up my spare tire. I fixed it up, but didnt have a chance to check if it became loose again. Any other thoughts for the source of the sound?!?!?

That sound drives me crazy, I have yet to find it. I just crank up my stereo and all the other rattles muffle it  .
does anyone here the rattle when they first start the car? I hear it and i have yet to figure it out....GLS btw....has anyone swapped out their stock speakers in the backit showed up after i did so i think it might have something to do with the rear deck
i say....
check the rear seat belt ''holders''.
good thinking, didnt think of that as direct cause of this @#%*&@# noise.....but again......when i took off my speaker covers i did take a quick look at the setup and it looked fine tho i didnt really check it all throughly. Guess ill have to open it all up again.

I bought a 2005 GLS Hatch about a month and a half ago. I have several buzzing/rattling noises
Both front doors. The glove box (only when the outside temp goes below freezing, this only happened on one day, went after after the interior warmed up). The main noise from the doors is in the upper rear part of the door, noisy under a variety of conditions, certain songs with bass, certain road surfaces, combo of both makes a slightly different rattle.
The rear/hatch area, passenger side, sounds like somewhere near the speaker, comes up when driving on non-smoove freeway, real annoying too, it almost sounds like if the speaker weren't mounted at all, and just bouncing around in there.
Sometimes I get this light noise from the driver's lower side of the dash, seems to be behind the storage pocket/fusebox area. My '04 GLS did that one too, and the driver's side door had the same rattle this '05 has. This noise only happens when driving, road surface hasn't mattered, can't find a pressure point to cease the noise. Was able to correct the noise in the '04 by stuffing some folded napkins in the gap between the outer dash and the inner frame right below the fuses. Never got the door in the '04 fixed, I was going to call and make an appt. for my second oil change and to have them check the door on the day it got wrecked. :-/
And in the headliner, the noise seems to come from right under the depression where the sunvisor goes (or to rephrase: when i lightly press here, the noise stops), on the right (towards the storage bin/map lights) side of the visor. The noise isn't from the visor itself. But this one might have gone away on its own, because I haven't heard it in a while.
I'm going in fo rmy first oil change this weekend, and am going to have my dealer look at it.

Yay for my dealer. They kept my car from Saturday to Wednesday night, disassembled my interior, found both doors had some loose clips and screws. My hatch noise was the speaker ground plate (huh?) wasn't mounted at all, and just set in place on the passenger side, which caused my hatch rattle.
They checked for my dash noises but found nothing odd, but did a partial disassembly, reassembly to attempt to find the problem. (The problem hasn't come back, either)
My Elantra's interior is very tight and rattle-free now. I have a invoice full of 'Warranty' in the right column. YAY.

Just like the OP I have a 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT and that damn front passenger side door vibrates like a *****. My fix = louder stereo. Only prob is the more the bass, the more the rattle. It's been getting worse - I've had it for over 2 years now. I've taken off the panel three times for various reasons which I'm sure hasn't helped. The whole door has dynamat extreme and still vibrates. I've run out of ideas, help!

it's the interior panel.... you might try replacing the clips....I think they're pretty cheap from the dealer....

My passenger door panel vibrates too... of course, I've had my door panels on and off nearly 25 times, so yeah. Every time I have them off I forget to fix them... damn. The part that rattles is the cloth/fake leather part, and it only moves very slightly. I've tried bending the clips back down, but it didn't really work as good as I had hoped... I heard putting a piece of jute (the stuff that's under your carpet) in there could help... hmm.
