Howdy!
I stumbled across this forum looking for some repair information and decided to sign up. I drive a 2002 Hyundai Elantra GT and I love it. I bought it brand new back in 2002 and it now it has 150,000 miles on it. I commute about 100 miles a day (50 miles each way) and that has wracked up the milleage on my car.
As far as problems with my car goes...nothing of any signficant importance. The only real irritiation is that the right front speakers crackle on the radio...and after having the speakers replaced the last I heard (after the warranty ran out) was that the speaker cable was corroded and had to be replaced involving pulling the dash off...etc etc... So I just generally use the rear speakers only (I'm not a big music fan so this is just a minor annoyance).
Mechanically the car runs fine and I've had ZERO problems with it. I'm getting ready to replace the Front and Rear rotors (original rotors from 2002). The rear rotors (according the Hyundai garage) needed to be replaced about 3 years ago...but brake jobs are not cheap so I've held off and helf off until now that I own a house and have a 2 car garage I can start doing this stuff myself and saving hundreds of $'s.
I have run into the trouble of the E-Brake freezing in the winter time (this was mentioned on another posting). My left E-Brake cable needs to be replaced and I'm curious how complex that will be?
I'm not a mechanic nor am I all that mechanically inclined....but I'm learning. I'm an Accountant by trade (a CPA) and computers/electronics/woodworking are my hobbies...but I'm making auto repair/maint a hobby as well to save cash.
