looks like you have been playing with a head/intake combo...

well that's not a beta head sittin' there. It's got 2 cam gears and a chain so I'm guessin' 4g63 head and intake manifold. But will it work? That is the million dollar question.

Edit: Nevermind I looked at my 4g63 head and it doesn't look like that so................ I Got Nothin'!!!!!

Umm thats what the Beta head looks like on the inside...1 external cam gear and an internal chain.

A intake manifold that does not bolt up correctly?

Looks like a Custom Nurbo setup that he stole from the inside of my head.

New intake manifold obviously and thats a CVVT head, I can see the cvvt solenoid on the camshaft. Its quite evident that its not from a beta motor as well, I can see an EGR on the backside of the intake manifold and it doesn't line up.

Project to adapt an evo intake manifold to the beta?

Project to adapt an evo intake manifold to the beta?

i like how the studs on the head dont interfere with the manifold.

can someone say adaptor plate?

After next week I should have some time if you want me to chop the flange off and weld on a betaII manifold flange.

A intake manifold that does not bolt up correctly?

Ouch!

But true....

Too much work for nothing and a waste of time IMO when you can just port the crap out of the stock one...

Or get an air ram... which you had but sold off... wrong move i guess?

so obviously its a different IM. even if there was an adapter plate for the IM, you would need one for the TB right? and hope that the throttle cable has no problem getting there. i dunno, like Felix said, looks like alot of work for something that can be reached by other means

but it's the COOL factor to say I have a "insert other car brand name and model here" intake manifold on my car...

lol.

... that wouldn't sound cool imho

I believe the purpose is to see if the evo intake manifolds can be modified to work. Because if they can, then you can get a Magnus intake manifold which is considered the best evo intake manifold you can get:

You buy that, weld on a new flange and you are good to go.

....Or just get a custom one made for the same price?

I have a 03 TIb w/o VVT and the head on the table is a 04+ VVT. I'm going to port/polish the head and run the VVT solenoid with the SMT-6.

Also its a 03 EVO VIII manifold that stock will outflow even the most ported stock Hyundai IM. BUT, I'm not leaving it stock. It will get fully ported as well. If I've learned something over the years its much better to start a project with components that have a lot of potential. Take a look at the rear of the runners. They are not the same size. Each one is matched to each cylinder. It's a MUCH better design for forced inducted vehicles.
Matt, hit me up when you have time!!!

hmmm, I'm interested to see how the smt6 handles the cam solenoid. Be sure to keep us updated and let us know what you're doing to get the evo manifold on.
