P0455 Code

I keep getting a P0455code - "Evaporative emission (EVAP) system – large leak detected Hose connection(s), intake leak, EVAP canister, EVAP canister purge valve" - am wondering if buying a new gas tank cap might be the answer. Have a sneaking suspicion it may have a hairline crack or be damaged.

Would appreciate any thoughts-feedback.

I'd say its either the evap canister or the purge valve on the back side of the intake manifold.

You can guess all you want, but without a smoke test, it would be hard to tell.

Inspect around the canister (left rear of car, behind the rear wheel). See if there is an obvious cracked or loose hose.

sounds stupid...but i see it all the time...did you fill the car up while it was running? or not tighten the gas cap down?

if i were you i would clear the code and if it comes back then perform a leak test of hte evap system.

it not much better here in the shop its 50 with a windchill of about 40...being as it was about 80 two days ago...its chilly!!

hte....is just me mispelling ****....you'll get used to it...hahaha

If it's not anything they listed above, get out your wallet. It starts with the smoke test and goes up from there.
