Hey, The name's Jamie, I live in Salem, OR. I have a 2007 Elantra GLS and I have a few ideas for the car, but that will come later. I was directed here from the Hyundai Performance forum and I have already seen some familiar names.

I joined with hopes to learn more about my car specifically.

Thanx everyone for the welcome. I bought my car for commuting puroposes but the little bug inside my ear will not let me leave a car alone.
I don't have any performance plans as of yet for the HD. For now the major changes will be cosmetic.

I had the 'Lantra for maybe three months and swapped out the stereo head unit. Still having trouble deciding if I should drill holes in a brand new car just so I can run power cables for subs. For what it's worth all of the RCA cables and the amp turn-on trigger wire have been run through the interior. (My wife was furious that I was gutting a new car---Buahahahahahahaaaa)!

I guess it's time to update.

My car was broken into about 4 weeks ago.
The factory Keyless Entry/Alarm System is VERY passive.
My Pioneer/Premier deck was stolen as well as the center dash bezel, and all of the after market installation gear. Target or Random?

I still haven't made any performance progress on the HD like I had planned.

It seems that I am going in reverse financially lately.

THAT BLOWS. If you are still looking at subs there should be a knockout in the driver fender well. BOB

that sucks. sorry to hear that. my main complain with my 06 alarm is that its not very loud. a few people on the forum have talked about doing a horn upgrade, not sure if anyone went through with it or not, but its something to think about.

glad to see your coming back to us with updates though, and good luck for the future!

Sorry to hear about the break in.

How did they get in? Did the alarm go off?

Sorry to hear about the break in.

How did they get in? Did the alarm go off?

Broke out the passenger side front window, reached in and unlocked the door, alarm never went off.
This was at my house, in front of my garage, and about 80 ft. away from my bedroom.

If I would have heard anything the poor bastard would have received high speed lead poisoning in the form of 9mm brain surgery.

Anyway, I am waiting for better weather so I can decide if my wheels are going to work with this car. I have a set of Enkei's that are 17" X 7.5" with 40mm offset and (I think) 5.5" back space. I'm hoping that they aren't going to have any issues with rubbing. Depending on the rubber I use. Not sure what size is neccesary. I have heard that I could use a 225/45/R17 with no problems but I think I need a 215/45/R17 to stay true to the circumference of the stock tire size.
(EDIT) The wheels in my avatar are going on the HD.

The new stereo is in. As much as I loved the last Pioneer/Premier deck, this new one blows it out of the water. Full color OEL, BlueTooth, Multiple Aux inputs in the form of IP-BUS and 3.5mm. Started work last night for a mounting plate for my amps and where to mount the power distibution block, fuse holders, and routing for RCA's.

You might want to have the BCM checked out by the dealer. It is supposed to disable the lock and trunk release switches when the alarm is armed and set.
