Personally I've always liked the Tib HVAC compared to my Elantra HVAC......is it at all possible to swap an 03 Tib HVAC into my 03 Elantra GT??

Yes; with enough work anything is possible.
Your research assignment for this question:
First, I'd suggest going to Hyundai Webtech and looking at the pin-outs for the Elantra and Tiburon climate control units. You might also want to look at the schematics and see if the mounting holes / brackets are in the same place. Or you could go to a junkyard and get a Tib climate control unit and try it out physically.
If they match and the plugs are the same shape and size, then you're probably golden. If not, you'll have to rewire it and hope that all the signals (voltage or resistance, pulsed or steady) are the same.
If you really wanted to do something cool, it'd be neat to put the climate control from the European Elantra in. You have to add some other sensors with that one, too, to get it to work.

Can you get my pics of the European Elantra climate control unit? lol u'd probably find them faster than me since i didn't even know they were an option...........I'd be willing to try and get the European unit to work on my XD, any ideas where I'd get ahold of such a unit? BTW, the tib unit probably won't work, been talking to a tib guy that does alot of interior mods and he said repositioning the buttons might not work so well.
or he can just continue to ask questions for stuff that he has no real intention of doing...
Just because you think I'm not planning to do any of these mods doesn't mean I won't........and even if I don't do them, maybe getting the ideas out there will have other ppl wanted to try new things. When it comes to doing custom work on your car I think it's a personal choice what you decide to do and what ends up not happening. So really posting all this negative bs about my ideas is a waste of your time. Welcome to the world of custom cars, sometimes not everything falls together like you originally wanted:hand:

Ok guys, play nice.
If you aren't going to say anything that's not related to the topic and feel like insulting each other, please use the PM system.
First/last warning.
On a related note: good job keeping it a calm response this time Nathan.

I think the European HVAC would be an interesting swap to attempt.....I will do some more research on this and see what I can figure out.

I don't know where to find pics of it now... I think the current Euro model is the HD Elantra, so none of the current European Hyundai sites will have pics. Here's an old thread about it, when I checked it out years ago: http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=780&highlight=climate The link is dead from that thread, but you might find something on Hyundai Webtech.
The parts will be cheaper now if you can get them used from Europe. I think we've got a couple of members from Germany? Perhaps one or more of them would be able to help.

Ilan and I and others have gone over the Auto Climate Control hundreds of times. In the end, getting all the sensors and everything costs too much.
As for the Tib HVAC, hmm, interesting. It'll glow orange which would look good if the rest is orange, but might look funny if not.

3rd pic down in the link shows it installed. I thought he was looking for a pic of it. As far as I know there is no DIY.

Well yeah, they came with them in Korea too. Not just Europe.
We also talked about getting the unit out of an XG. That way you wouldn't have to import it from somewhere else.
I want that damn 6-speed!
I'll have to check this out next trip to the junkyard...

What about using Tib knobs on an Elantra HVAC??

you can use the hvac in the xd...the tib has a body control module that controls some of the functions...it will not work properly.

So why did you say you can do it, then say that it won't work?

2 of the knobs wont fit they are too big

2 of the knobs? what about the 3rd knob? will that fit? i dunno i just feel like doing something different with my HVAC other than painting it, which i will do while it's out/apart. It will at the very least get converted to red LED's and the faceplate will get painted dark blue with some clear coat after.

I think these are the ones you guys are talking about?
http://dreamka4u.com/shop_image/Temp._dial_set3.jpg
also available in blue and red. Head over to Kspec.com and Dreamka4u.com and try to get familiar with everything that's offered (it's not much, to remember - we have Hyundais).

K that's been said like twice now, i hear u ppl the first time.......can you actually use one of those three knobs tho? U said 2 are too big, what about the 3rd one?? If that 3rd one would fit then maybe kspec would be willing to make a custom kit for me with only the smaller knobs........maybe even put one together for the XD if enough ppl are interested.......

This isn't exactly on topic; but --
Man... where do I start... I was going to make a sarcastic comebacks about this. However, anything I would say pales beside your smart-aleck (http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/smart-aleck) remarks in this (your own) thread when people are trying to answer your questions. Honestly, this is (was) the last time I bother to try to answer any of your questions.

You ask a question. It gets answered. You ask that same question again. It gets answered again. Then you give the person **** for answering the question again. Yet we're the ones with the problem? See that shiny thing in your bathroom? It's called a mirror. Go look in it for a minute.
