i had the same problem. My right front end made humming noises as soon as you steered to the left and the right side got some more pressure. The car had that problem when i bought it, and the dealer took care of it with the buy.
He then said to have spend 300 dollars on the repair, but i got my hand on the actual garage bill and it showed half that amount. So if i was you i would look for something between 150 - 200 total. You can buy the part online, and still bring it to the shop. Saves you money on thea actual part.

I just had this done last week. I got a quote from an independent for around $400, I got it done at the dealership for $230.
The problem is that the front wheel bearings have to be pressed out. Depending on how your mechanical skills you might be able to remove the knuckle and take the part to the dealer or independent to have them press out and press in a new wheel bearing.

As mentioned by steev-o, its usually cheaper to get the part and then take it to them and you just pay labor. The only thing I can say about the price is thats about avaerage from looking at past posts about this and most of the time 90% of the bill is all in labor. If i'm wrong please someone correct me so that i'm not constantly giving miss information.

If you do take a part to them, most shops will typically charge you a little bit more on labor since they aren't making any money off you on the part. Just something to think about there. If it was my car, I'd just go to the junkyard and grab a new spindle with bearings already in it, then its just an easy swap.

That's crazy. My suspension shop does it for like 140$... (cash though haha)
TIP: When at an independant shop, ALWAYS offer to pay full in cash and the price goes down (no taxes and sometimes even a little rebate). Might be slightly illegal but who gives.

When my knuckle got cracked, I bought one from a junkyard for $60 and replaced it myself.
You could save a lot of money by doing that.

The wheel bearing that was replaced was because I put a knuckle from a junkyard on. It would have been cheaper for me to put a new knuckle on, than to put on a used knuckle, and then replace the wheel bearing. But hindsight is 20/20. There is also the fact that I didn't have the time or the tools to do the job myself. Again, in hindsight it would have been cheaper to buy the tools and do it myself.
But if you are up for replacing the knuckle, replacing one from a junkyard is a possibility.
