Anyone ever hear more about that DIY some one was working on? Got to thinking about it and searched for it but he never posted any more on it. Did he finish or did his car blow up?

if you do not have any training i would not do a DIY ....if you have training you will not need a DIY for you will know how to read the manual and do it yourself.

watch these two videos and go to www.phantomgrip.com and go under the tech articles and read them. That should be all you need to know.

Well I thought I had messaged him about this but I guess I had only thought about doing it and never got to the physical typing of the message.

i would not recommend phantom grip to anybody....if your drag only...fine but anything else...you will eat the diff.
i just literally tore one apart...and where the inserts go in....its not a good spot...

I wasn't suggesting him buying a phantom grip, just to read the tech articles to familarize himself with the differential and how to put in a LSD insert.

So where do you think the inserts should go then? :abovelol: In the bellhousing perhaps? :crash_com

play nice guys. I got a message from him (Mahonroy) and if you hadn't talked to him about it before everything went well and its good enough to take everything apart and put it back together. Assuming any of you were thinking about doing this some time soon and doing it on your own. As for me it'll be simple but doubt I would ever do it seeing as in how i'm thinking about getting a new car (jeep to be specific) when i'm back in town around august or so.

ok...just finished with a tear down and rebuild of the beta, alpha, and the 5speed v6 trannies...
the diff is crazy easy to replace if you know how to do it...there are alot of little things that have to be done.
kewlkat...i would not recommend phatom grip to anybody period. true LSD or nothing.
the quife unit will just slip right in....if only the cash was there.

Isn't a modification needed of the Quaife LSD tho?

i believe the only thing was to use a different speed sensor....other then that i would imagine its just shim and install.
