so i had a couple people say the cable was probably loose causing the monitor to mess up. tonight, i start to take off the back cover to get to the cable, mess with it for a couple hours before finding out the cable connection is above the keyboard and just unsnaps to get to the connection.
well i get to the connection, make sure its in fine, start the computer back up, and the screen is fine. NOW, i dont have wireless. the card is plugged in, but the computer isnt showing it. ive clicked the button to connect to wireless, and it doesnt do anything.
any ideas?

hm, that's weird.
does it show up as anything on your device manager? maybe an unknown device?

no. usually, it will have a yellow ! mark or something, right? i dont see anything under network adapters, or modems, and dont see anything else that would signify a wireless card

You say your wireless card isn't internal?
Something might be shorting out the card bus, or maybe the connection got pulled loose when dismantling the computer.

its an internal card. ive checked the connections i came in contact with when i disassembled it, and dont see anything out of place
what are the chances the wireless card got f'ed up while i was messing around in there? i found replacements on ebay for 10-20$ when i searched for the "replace with HP spare model #" on ebay.
also, if that may be a cause, i was able to remove the card, but i didnt want to pull the black/gray wires out as to not mess anything up. it looks like a spade connector on the board, will it be simple as pulling the wire and connector off the spade and plugging into the new card?

Well, not all laptops are the same, but most internal cards are inserted into a contact slot, with a white and black wire for antenna and power. Most of the ones I see can be pulled off. Some are soldered.

I would attempt to reseat the card into its connection slot, then make sure the little white and black wires are connected and not broken anywhere. I ripped one of those off my old Toshiba notebook and had to do some soldering to get it reattached properly.
I would guess something is undone/unhooked. It'd be pretty-hard to physically break the card just doing what you did.
if your just talking wireless just get a pcmcia, is it really that big of a deal to have to slide in a card to go online? if you dont use the pcmcia for anything else you can just leave it in all the time anyway..
and now they make cards that are flush with the slot, so that they dont stick out.
id go that route before i went taking it apart again..

well last night i thought it may not be seated properly, and it didnt look like it was. i tried to get it in as well as i could, and still wouldnt do anything
rob, where can i find this pcmcia card that stays flush with the laptop. i was actually thinking of just getting one, but i dont want it sticking out past the laptop.

so i feel like an idiot.
i went and got the card for 40$ to hold me over for a few days. take it to my dad today, aparently i didnt push the card in all the way. it felt like it was in, and i didnt want to break anything. aparently i also did it with one of the RAM sticks.
everything is fine now, and no screen flicker!
