Anyone ever used Sopcast?

http://www.sopcast.org/

I want to watch some live cricket (Stanford 20/20 for those that know, which I know is nobody here, hah).

Is this a legitimate program that works well? Or is it more trouble than it's worth? I guess there is no Apple version (big surprise!), but if it's a good program then I can use our Dell laptop.

I've used it before to watch Thursday night games on the NFL network, because I don't get the NFL network.

Oh, I should have put a review of the program. It is pretty-simple to use, but the quality and buffer-time of what you are trying to watch is dependent on the number of sources feeding it, and the number of sources trying to view it.

Did you use it with IE or with FF?

I could watch this particular cricket on ESPN360, but I don't get that with Cox (stupid crap). So, if anyone wants to record it from there for me I'd be your best friend, but I know nobody is willing to waste 3 hours of their time doing that for me. Maybe if I threaten to shut down EXD...? Hmm? Ha.

I don't think either. It's an independent program, not a browser plug-in, IIRC. However, on that particular computer it would have been IE that I use.

Seems to me that it can be used as a plug-in type application. That's what all the cricket sites seem to indicate. They all suggest using IE but give instructions for use with FF as well.

Hmm.

I see, there is a stand alone player and also a web player/browser plug-in.

I am watching live cricket right now. This is ****ing awesome. It's too bad I have to watch it on the wife's laptop instead of my computer which means I have to use a laptop keypad which I can't type on very well and am using IE. Live cricket is the best thing ever, well, maybe not, but it's cool. I might have to stay up until 6AM to watch the entire thing, yes!

I was surprised at the quality. I've never watched live TV of any kind on the internet. It was pretty good. A couple times it froze for a second or two, but, not bad for free live cricket.

I told her I was going to go buy her a new computer today so I could use the laptop for 100% cricket action, hah, she wasn't having any of that (plus we can't afford a 24" iMac right now).
