You and I have about the same amount of mileage, Travis. If I were you, I would replace all seals and gaskets before boosting, especially since you have 100,000+ miles.
Felix says the stock block can withstand around 10psi safely. (In the right hands)

I have a decomp plate but you would have to wait a few weeks until I move to my new house because its buried in my garage for moving!

Yeah you should be OK with low boost like that on stock compression. But make sure all is tuned well!

It's been proven that a unopened motor can withstand about 15-17 pounds of boost, both confirmed by Denis and JonGTR. It all comes down to tuning. Put a new metal headgasket on the engine, and you should be fine with 10 pounds or so. I would not go higher since you have alot of miles on that engine.

it also depends what turbo you are running for that PSI, because it comes down to CFM, not PSI. On my 13g I can probably run 17psi stock internals, but with a gt28 probably no more than 12?
