when you get that far north in NY you should be driving a pickup truck with a shotgun rack on the back

That's not true. There are plenty of areas where the rednecks are the minority in Upstate. You can tell the redneck areas by every car being a Big 3 product of older vintage with lots of rust. And the non-rednecks whipping through in their expensive cars. When those cars are parked, you've reached a safe haven where rednecks fear to tread.

Dude, you totally described the town I grew up in! And it's not "redneck", it's "whitetrashy". There is a difference, get it straight. But have any of you ever been up in the mountain towns? I'm presuming NY's never been that far north, cuz he would take away his rash generalization that all "upstaters" are rednecks, and just exclude that to the "mountainfolk".

I have 43 acres of mountain property outside of Lake George in a little town called Stony Creek. Most certainly a hicktown, but I wouldn't trade the peace and quiet of that place for anything!

Werd? I work in Latham now (used to work in Schenectady, right on the Niskayuna border) but the company I work for closed down my location, so I had to transfer, demotion, pay cut, just to keep a job) just off I-87. I'm feeling a mini-meet at some point when the weather is nicer.....

Elan, you got any pics of your car somewhere? If it's that pimpin, and you're from Nisky, I'd probably know it. And if crazie is from colonie, and you're 20 mins away, you need to hurry the hell up cuz unless you're going in circles, or walking, nothing in Nisky is 20 mins away from anything in Colonie! lol

Ha! Our cars make it as far as the bottom of the mountain. After that it's quad's or hoofing it to the top (just under a mile up to the cabin.)

My dad and his wife own a house up on Hadley hill that they use on the weekends. Yeah, I know the area. It's faster for me to go up that way than it is to go through Warrensburg. Watch the crazy little bastard's jump into the river from the side of that bridge in the summer!

Well I guess you're just not trying hard enough now are you?

Can try as hard as you want. In the last 10 years, that road has gotten so bad a lifted 4x4 can't get all the way up anymore.
