now in ur other thread, u r having clearence problems with the turbine housing and the alternator? this only lowers the turbo, and i don't think by much. have u thought about how ur going to fix that problem? do u have pictures? Hopefully we all can help.

i had to give my friend his cam back so i got this pic off ebay. it looks alot like mine

1- internal wastegate plus the v band piece stuck out too far leaving only about two inches from the alternator..

2- the place were the actuator is was blocked by 2 sensors going into the bock

without the internal wg im positive ill have enough room for the down pipe

yea u would. we who use the t3/t4 turbos all have external gated turbo's. If i was you i would 1. get a external gated turbo, like the one in ur second picture but not a knock off, and 2. the wastegate adaptor, and then make a custom downpipe.

well the internal wg just bolts right off so luckily i wont have to buy a new one. but i will have to buy a down pipe flange, wg sandwitch plate and the wg itself + dump tube.

ebay here i come lol.

what brand turbo do you have? what's the specs on it?

ElantraEvo

mines exactly like this, spec wise and looks almost the same.

Don't forget to weld the IG flapper shut or no boost for you! :)

this fixes that problem, lol

you still need to weld the flapper shut. Even with that flange the flapper will still open enough to bleed off enough exhaust to sap all your boost.

No, dmdicks, look closely, his internal wastegate is actually NOT part of the exhaust housing, it's part of the v-band flange.

the plate will cover the wastegate hole...
you might be confusing with a t25 t28 or the mitsu turbos

ok so with my plate for the new down pipe i was thinkin i had to buy that t3 to t3 adapter thing with the wastegate flange on it. but i was looking on car domain at school today and saw this,
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/kentony08/2450360_54.jpg
i know its some ones here cuz ive seen the car that this belongs to on this forum. any way i noticed the wastegate was ran off the wastegate flange.. has nobody seen this or something cuz damn that is the best thing for me to do now that i have a flange i would only need the wastegate itself .

^ that's from mayollo072R car. everything on his car matches. look at the back of the compressor housing. you should pm about his setup. It works!

it works but it's the worst place to install an external wastegate
not enoug hflow in this area to control boost on a large turbo

i put the turbo in today just to see what it would look like
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/kentony08/PICT2160.jpg
the closeness to the alternator still worries me for the down pipe fitmint
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/kentony08/PICT2161.jpg
sexy.
but this power steering line is in my pipes way
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/kentony08/PICT2162.jpg so i was thinking braided line.. any ideas

dude why don't you clock the turbo down and make the piping go around the radiator?

fab up ur downpipe and just heat wrap it. It will be fine. trust me. just heat wrap it well. I think my downpipe is closer than that. as for the 15million mile ic pipes to each its own..... at least its chrome.

Wow that engine bay is clean. Black, chrome and boost...what else do you need!

Why do you want that much charge piping? I say if you're dead set on doing that way, remove the power steering ;)

ElantraEvo
02-13-2008, 09:30 PM
ok im not necessarily gonna do the piping excatly like that. but its going behind the head lights instead of right around the radiator. i already piped it behind the headlights so im just gonna do a strait piece from the headlight to the turbo. not the whole jump over the header. and thats were the ps line gets in the way lol

found this

i think its a winner!

Yeah they do that a lot on dsm's I just learned that a couple months ago (putting external wastegates in the downpipe, then removing the flapper). Supposedly it works pretty good actually.

ElantraEvo
02-15-2008, 07:16 PM
lol im not going to buy that part. (i know its for a Mitsubishi.) just the style or the down pipe. i have the down pipe flange and 2 mandrel u-bends off ebay. a friend from school says his brother has a spare wastegate with the mounting kit (includes 2- 35mm flanges & gaskets). so once i get that from him i gotta find a place were they can make my down pipe (like the pic w/out the 02 bung) with the parts i have, basically just cutting and welding.

Until now, it had never went ver the 5 psi set up on the wg. Room is perfect. If you are t g higher psi it would work fine.

My previous setup was with a bigger t3/t4 set up at 3.8 psi and then at 5.9 psi. It never went over the set psi and the peak boost was reached super quick. It pulled 204 whp@6270 rpm with no programing nor FPR or engine internal work. I will send yu pics f the current setup and FMIC piping which is straight, no hard turns on it and the shortests posible. To run the FMIC like the ne I have Yuo'll need a solid front mount insulator or run a smaller diameter pipe like 1.75 or 2" in front of the radiator.

Also, you must consider to run the downpipe as far as possible from the expensive alternator cuz even wrapping it woon't exclude him to get sme harm from excesive heat. Internal wg does not give you that choice and you can still weld the dump pipe inside the exhaust piping if you work n a custom 3" piping
