Sweet ... but, ummmm ... did you blow an oil line on that bottom picture? Manifold and top radiator hose look covered in some liquid.
Nice job though ... have you dynoed it yet?

so the evo8 mr pistons fit with no problems? wow been thinking about swapping some of the evo internalls into my 2liter but wasn't sure if it would work. Also did you drop in the rods too?

how did you modify the evo manifold...i know its not a direct bolt on.

I'm suprised the setup fit so nicely in there. Looks good.

Yes I'm quite surprised to see that the pistons could be used. What does your compression look like?

You would have to do some serious cylinder boring to get a 4G63T piston in a beta block. Not worth the loss in structural rigidity.

^agreed. the 4g63 pistons are HUGE compared to the betas. Just look up the specs. You're talking a good bit of boring when its not really worth it all. Its been talked about before but the evo manifold does work. You just have to modify the bolt holes.

ok so you swapped out the Beta for a G4CP then ???? ('cause in the picture it's a Beta 1.8l !!!)
EDIT : wait ... I just checked and the Sirius (G4CP) engine have the same bore as the beta : 82mm ...
All I know is, this is a G4CP engine :

Here in Puerto Rico the 2.0 beta engine(3.228in./82mm) come in all the hyundai elantra 97-up. All the hyundai elantra 92-97 in Puerto Rico come with the G4CP with a bore of 3.346in./85mm. I dont make any swap. I just bore the cylinder to .119in. :eek2:

tell me you dynoe'd it?
i think its awesome.
does the stock computer work well with it.... how is it tuned?

still not worth it for the loss of material in the cylinder.

What I don't understand is how the engine name and bore got mixed up like that ...
He says he's got a G4CP (basically those are a 4G62 I think??) but his pictures show a G4CN (Beta 1) ...
Cypher

he's just using all the stock stuff off an evo.

yeah I know that, but confusing the two engines??? (4G6* and Beta ???)
What I mean :

But the pictures really show a Beta 1.8l
Cypher

Right. he has a 1.8l beta, but he used the g4cp pistons by overboring and modifying it somehow. He was just saying hes using the older mitsu (from the 92-97 elantras) pistons in his beta

No in his first post he clearly states evo8 pistons....

i dont get it either....why would you use the older style pistons? the beta ones are plenty strong.

Guess I'm confused as well lol why go through modifying pistons and whatnot when you could just get wisecos for a decent price?

Nice work, but wow, that's a lot of material to remove from a cylinder wall! I guess if the block holds up, it's a testament to the Beta's good strength.
Keep us posted on your experience with your ride, and any track times or dyno numbers if you get some!
