Inspect and adjust valve clearance

My dealer told me they don't do valve clearance inspection.
Have you had such experience?
Is it really necessary to do this and should I be asking other dealerships or try to find a decent shop to do that? Can I do it myself?

If you search on the site there are a few discussions on adjusting valve clearance on Elantra's. It is rarely needed on our cars , and that applies to most cars in general. If you think your valves are too loud first try going to a better grade of oil ; even synthetic. With the plastic rockers covers you will hear more valve noise anyway.
