Not sure if the model year matters (due to the difference in the front grill), but on mine, it was just attached with 3M Mounting tape. You should be able to pry it off with a screwdriver, just be careful not to break the thin sections. Maybe a heat gun would help release the adhesive.

Right, like everyone says, they are both just stuck on with tape, albeit strong tape.
I would try to warm the area up first (maybe with a hair dryer), then attempt to pop the badges off. If you manage to break one of the badges you can order another from the dealer for around $12.

the rears are held on with both tape and little press fit nuts, you have to pry those off

mine was just tape. I used dental floss to get mine off.

Yeah, they have little nubs, but they don't hold it on, more to center it I think. At least that's how my car is.

dental floss or fishing line work great for this type of thing, but yea, there may have been some little centering studs, nothing structurally attaching it though.
What are you going to put in its place? shaving it smooth or putting another emblem? or just rockin the big whole back there?

Question answered in first post. The rear one is a pain with those stupid centering posts. I should have tried with heat:( Broke the crap out of that one!

I have an H emblem from my trunk I took off to put on my "ElantraXD" badges, if anyone needs to replace a broken one. $10 shipped anywhere in the US.
