I had acc. belts replaced in december and i put about good 2k miles already.
but when it's cold outside and when i steer it left to right(not too hard) it makes noise. and when it gets warmed up it only makes noise when i steer it all the way. i took it back to the mechanic and he said it's the power steering pump but he didn't even look at it he just asked me to steer it all the way to one side and said i need to replace the pump... see i don't really trust this mechanic... what should i do? is it actual pump or belt too loose/tight??

when i had my light weight pulley installed... my belts kept squealing and ****, due to being loose. my steering also felt like crap.
so either check ur belts and make sure everything is tight. otherwise it could be something else.
can u describe the sound? or get us a video/sound clip?

Retighten the belts. They will usually loosen up a little after the initial stretch.

yup, what bob said. also check ur belts for tension, eventually once they settle in, they tend to stretch a lil bit. so check that too

I also had the same problem.. (turn the wheel when cold SQUEEEEEEEEL) Same with it warm. It was the ALT belt. Took a few mins to tighten it down.

What Bob said. If the power steering belt is tight, the alternator belt is loose. I had the same problem when I changed all the belts. The alternator belt was the culprit.

i had a big thread on this, after i added my pulley.
if someone doesnt answer this by tomorrow, ill go and get some pics for u.
but all it is... loosen the bolt enough so u can move the appropriate item, then just move it away from the engine, to create more tension on the belt,s once u get it far enuff, just tighten it back down. its kinda like wheel and chain on a bicycle. except theres more than 1 area where u can tighten n stuff.
