P0456 Evaporative emission system – very small leak detected Mechanical fault, hose connection(s), EVAP pressure sensor
Yesterday I filled up for the first time in like... 2 months? I made sure that it clicked like 8 times as when I usually do.
CEL came on when I started the car today, first thing I thought is "ah, header code, how come?'', and then I saw it wasn't.
So... I just went back and retightened it, I don't want to restar the ECU and start driving for nothing, I guess we'll find out tomorrow if it was the cap not sealed right..
Any thoughts? What causes a gas cap to go bad? What else can it be?

Big O ring that does the sealing maybe shrinks.
If you had the right size you could change it ; really big approx 50-60 mm dia.

I'm thinking maybe it just froze (the o-ring).

Rubber does contact in extreme cold, could be the sealing problem
I was driving an ATV plowing in our 5 F weather yesterday;burrrrr.

try putting some vaseline on the gasket, just a little bit, did you see if there's any corrosion around the filler neck?

Did you inspect the seal on the gas cap? Could be torn. Also, it could be a small hole in any of the evap system lines or components.

Nope, I couldn't see, was too dark, and I couldn't find my flashlight lol
And it didnt look like there was corrosion around the neck.

a po456 is usually the canister close valve....i would start there.
about 90 percent of evap tests that i have done for a 456 have been just that....

its a valve on the charcoal canister that regulates the fresh air/pressure from the tank...
i'll see if i can get a pic...
ok that was a bust...
the charcoal canister is located at the rear of the vehicle on the driverside...its a black box...there will be (i believe) a 12mm nut and a 12mm screw...they come off and the canister comes down....at the end of it you will see a valve about 3 inches long with a connector and two different outlets going to it...that is the canister close valve.
take the two spring clips and move them, pull the connector off, and remove valve....rinse and repeat with the install.
