I Loved the write up on fog light install. Very helpful. I have a 04 GLS sedan as well. I have a couple of questions for anybody out there that can give a newbie a hand
1. Can you go through the firewall following the directions on the DIY? Will it work on an 04?
2. Is it hard to bring the wires up the steering wheel column?
3. Where do you ground the wire coming out of the multifunction switch?
4. The yellow and green wires that where already in the multifunction terminal harness, do you just tape off the ends that you weren't using when you cut them? Why were those wires there?
5. Does the fog lab indicator in the dash go on with this set up?
Sorry I ask a lot of questions. This is my first electrical up grade.

I can answer a couple of the questions.

Yes it'll work on an 04.

And no, the fog light indicator will not light up on the dash. Unfortunately.

You need to check out Doohickie's DIY:

http://www.dfwhyundais.com/diy/FogLights/DIY-FogLights.html

He has all the schematics and path through the firewall. Also the dash indicator does work and it only requires one additional to be run through the firewall.

It's not that hard to get the indicator to work. Let me look at the firewall instructions.... The method I used doesn't involve any drilling or anything radical like that and uses the same hole as the existing harness. From my DIY,

OEM Foglight Wiring (http://www.dfwhyundais.com/diy/FogLights/DIY-FogLights.html#Section1d)

Running wires between engine and passenger compartments (http://www.dfwhyundais.com/diy/FogLights/DIY-FogLights.html#Section1i). Run at least 3 wires (of different colors) if you want to have "true OEM" wiring. You can get away with only using one, though. It's just as easy to run some extra wires if you're already in there though.

Wow, I didn't know that. Good stuff. I wonder if it's the same on the XDs?

I'm pretty sure it is. The connector is pretty easy to get to. Put a terminal in there, connect 12V power to the wire, and it should light up if the bulb and wiring are there. You should be able to poke a finsihing nail into the hole and try putting 12V on it to see if it works.

This is great!!! Thanks for all of the info. I am going to start this project later in the week. So I am sure I will have more questions

What parts are you using? Are going with an OEM installation?

I am going with the OEM multi-switch using the relay. How could I hook things up so that I can put the fog lights on with only the side markers lit? In doohickie's DIY it says that relay pin #2 goes to to two female spade connectors(provides switched fog light power supply and goes to indicator light on connector EM02). I got the EM02 part but what does it mean switched fog light power? Where is that? Do I split the wire coming out of relay Pin #2? Or is the connection already there and by bringing the wire to EM02 the second part of the connection is made? Sorry I am confused and probably a little dumb.

If you're not in a hurry, and don't have all the parts yet, you can come up on a good weather weekend and I can install the lights. My install is OEM.

I just got the fog light kit via a canadian hyundai dealership. It came with the fog light assembly with the brakets, oem switch, relay, wiring kit, nuts and bolts etc. The instructions are supplied by Hyundai Mobis and are not very detailed. I could have a cheaper way but what the hell. I got it shipped to me for $170.00 My car got hit recently and I need to have the bumper replaced so this job is going to wait for at least two weeks.

Doing the OEM install, will I beable to turn the fogs on with just the side markers on or do the low beams have to be on?

By the way thanks for the offer of coming up. I am going to do the dirty work. It is the only way I learn this stuff.

Have you ever changed the the bulb color on these or the glass color? I was thinking yellow.

Could you check and see if they have any kits for the 01-03's? It might be the same seller that I emailed, but I'd really like to get a full kit with all the parts that wont cost my 1st-5th born child, plus appendages.

Yes, you can wire them either way. Follow Doohickie's DIY and you'll be fine. I never changed the bulbs on mine, yet.

****. For anyone with an XD, don't bother. I just asked them a week ago if they had kits for them, and they didn't. XD2 might have more luck though...

for the xd's

if youre splicing it into the sidemarkers, it'll come on with the driving lights and the low beams

hope this helps two months after the fact ;)

I am finally getting to this project next week. So with the OEM multifunction switch and the OEM wiring as posted by dohickie all I need to do is splice into the side marker to feed the relay switch? However it seems that the multifunction switch grounds the connection only when the low beams are on thus completing the connection. I am confused.

I can't help you with the side markers. I followed the factory wiring diagram. 3 wires to the cabin. 2 went from the relay (engine fuse box) to EMO2 pins 2 and 3 (this is where I got the sidemarker signal). Pin 3 was spliced and continued up the column to multi switch pin 12. On the switch I jumped pin 10 and 13 (when high beams go on, fogs go off).

In the engine fuse box I got power from the fuse (had to put a fuse in the empty slot) and tapped into the power side of the relay. The other relay pin has a wire to the fog lights (one power to two splits for each light) and then to ground. I put the 3rd cabin wire to the split for the two lights, and on the cabin side, plugged into EMO2 pin 4 (for the dash light indicator).

What do you mean by, "On the switch I jumped pin 10 and 13 (when high beams go on, fogs go off). What does jump mean? Where did you find the diagram for the multi-switch with the pin numbers? Thanks

silet

It's in the DIY

http://www.dfwhyundais.com/diy/FogLights/Images/HMASchematicOnLogic.jpg

I jump the pins 10 and 13 with a piece of wire.

You need to really understand the drawing Doohickie marked up. Once you do and locate the connectors and their pins, it'll be a lot easier to do.

Do you have the spade connectors, relay, fuse and the third stud for the fog lights to mount on?

I got what I need. I didn't think that doohickie ran the wire up the steering column or jumped those pins. Did you add that to get the fogs on with out the low beam on?

Doohickie ran his to a panel switch. You have to run the wires like I did, otherwise you don't need the multi switch. Yes, my fogs go on with the low beams only. I have it set up just like factory.
