when i FIRST heard the term 5-door years ago i thought someone was talking about an actual 5th door on the car. im like wtf would that do? shortly after i realized im stupid and people were talking about hatches hehe

제꺼 대품주는 조건으로, 27만원 정도 하더군요.
위 사진은 sm7 아시죠? led 좀 아시는 분이 그 데루등을 카피해서 만든거예요.. p.s 한국에는 led업체 많은 듯.

lol.. that is not the DIY for LED tail light... he was just telling me he is going to buy the led taillight from led company for about $270.. and that taillight on the first pics are made based on sm7 taillight (Samsung car).

I met him at Korean elantra big site, "xdian" on line.

I translate.
dong kyoon, you can't make those without hand skill. I have xd1 gls. I will buy end products for xd1 at led tunning shop. I have to give them my taillights.
It cost 27,000 won. 300 dollars..

Thank god there is a guy who speak and write korean. Keep us posted on how can we work to get these tails as is the 3rd time i see them around but no info on how to make it happen.

As for the chat between joon and you dont forget to translate us about the result, posibilities to get them done, etc. I personally don't care for the in between chat. :D

Personally, I don't mind at all if you guys post in Korean if you include an english translation to accompany it. You never know, it may help someone improve their language skills.

At the risk of hi-jacking this thread, there is a question that's been bugging me forever and I hope you guys can answer it...

A while ago I saw a DIY out of Korea which showed them modifying car grilles and panels. They were using what looked like two blobs of clay/plasticine which they mixed together and then formed and moulded the shape. Like a body filler.
Apparently it then dries hard and you can sand it and paint it. What is that stuff?

저도 Led 튜닝이 상당히 매력적이라고 생각합니다. 그러나 마음 뿐.. 실천에 옮기지는 못하고 있습니다. 오죽하면 윈도우스위치 Led로 바꾸고 싶지만 아직 못했어요.

제생각은요.. Diy에 소질이 없다면 업체에 돈주고 맡기는 것이 더 낳을 거 같애요. 들어가는 돈은 어차피 비슷하더라구요.

I'm not a DIY expert... I was just surfing through the web sites and found this led tail lights and it might good to show others. Personally I think LED tuning is very appeal and I want to do it but I can't even change the lights on my mouse to LED...

I think if you are not good with DIY, it might be better to let a company do it for you since there isn't much difference with cost.

The google translator rocks, it pretty much got the jist of the above and it makes pretty good sense. Althought it translated the word/s you interpreted as "mouse" to "window", so google says he was trying to say he couldnt mod the window switch leds, which seems to make more sense the mouse heh.

and looking at that thing taken apart.. someone put some serious Time into that.. it looks so awesome. i want to see them all lit up in day/night etc.

The car is very very dirty right now due to it rainning all week so i was going to wait till i got the car washed because the headlights are smeared with rain water and dirt, but since you asked here ya go. 2 camera phone pics i took the other day.

From looking at this pic i think you need to 1st remove the glass cover somehow, (no $hit!) and then u need a piece of aluminum and cut it to the correct size where it would fit snug inside the glass cover, then drill some holes on the aluminum so that you can fit some Led's and then wire and solder them to a circuit board and after that its all just plug and play to the main socket.

Im going to buy me a second set of tails and try this out. i don't think it would be so hard. To make it even easier i'll be using a pre-wired board from ebay.

something like this, i'll just remove the leds from the board and spread them out more on the aluminum.

^ that is cool and im sure would be awesome, but the craftsmanship put into that one looks so good. if i wanted to do it i would want it to be as sweet at that one even with the led wrapping up to the top of the tails too. man, it looks so damn good. i am fair with soldering and wires etc. but i know it would take me forever to perfect something like that, or i just plain wouldn't have the skillz to pay those billz

thats why im getting a second set of tails to experiment on, im going to try my best to get as close as possible to that type of quality, it may not look the same when im finished but I think i'll do a good job on it.

Rather than get those boards off e-bay and go through the hassle of de-soldering them etc, I'd recommend just buying a bulk pack of LEDs.

To get the same look as those lights, the front bezel needs to have those holes at completely regular intervals. I wouldn't even try to do that by hand. It just won't work because you'll get too much variation. It needn't be made out of aluminium either. I'm sure there are lots of different materials which could work.

As an idea, those sort of holes and the size there-of remind me a LOT of the bottom grate from a coffee machine. (espresso type, not drip filter) If you could find some of those in a junk yard or somewhere else cheap that'd be a good start.

I have an idea for the indicators as well... arrows...
