hi all , my 2001 hyundai elantra has 75 K miles , while comming back from work yesterday i noted my check engine light came on .. car seems to have no issues at all it drives smooth .. and fine ....

my question is can it be for regular maintenance check .... i just replaced oil ...
or is it sign for something big ... car makes no noise or vibrations .

what are the required 75 k milage maintenace requiried .. is timing belt req to be replaced.

CEL is NOT a maintenance reminder light. It means something is wrong with the engine/evap/emissions. Get it checked for free at AutoZone/PepBoys/Advance to see what the code is to point you in the right direction.

Timing belt was a requirement at 60k miles. As was transmission fluid (also at 30k), spark plugs and a fuel filter was required at 45k miles IIRC. Your owners manual outlines all major services required.

t belt is at 60k...the plugs are covered by warranty until the 5 year 60 warranty is expired....fuel filter is 105k

you a stored Diagnostic Trouble Code stored...you need to have it read.

Sorry Bob, but the engine light lights up for maintenance. Mine lighted up for every 25k

No, they don't. Period. There is no "Maintenance reminder" lights on the XD's. Trust me, after spending 3 years in the dealership and owning 2 hyundais, one for 86k miles with no CEL EVER, it doesn't exist.

That's either some Canadian only option or there is something wrong with your car and the dealership is BSing you.... that just happens to go out every 25k. 100k here and no CELs *knock on wood*

Even if I had wanted to believe you, the fact that you said "lighted up" just totally killed your credibility...

Did you get gass on your way home from work?? If you did check to make sure your gass cap is on tight and see if it doesn't go out in a little while.
