Is this normal for ~7k miles of use?

I installed it around 6-7k and just emptied it around 14k. Seems like a lot.

That's NOTHING compared to what I had in my car when I was turbo, haha.

that looks fine, it might seem like a lot becase of moisture in the catch can, I used a little filter from an air compressor and it'd get full and foggy because of moisture.

so this mabey a stupid question but what it the purpose of putting a catch can on? where does it tap into?

Goes inline with one or both of the PCV system lines.

and i think the purpose is to prevent the engine from burning oil, correct? which may improve emissions? correct me if im wrong.

Well, from burning oil, we are talking about the oil vapors coming from the crankcase, to the intake.

It's actually better for the ''environment'' the way it's run stock, but it's worse for your engine which gets gummed up in the runners and whatnot.

That is actually less than I would expect to see if I'm "scaling" the picture right in my head.

tuningunlimited, u could do either. i believe u can even use a water filter or somethimg like that as the actual catch can, n then just get some fittings, to fit in it, n connect some rubber hoses. i think theres a DIY for it.

that is just about right....

and yes like kewl said...for emissions its better but as for your engine its a different story.

just thought i would share a pic of what came out of my catch can. now for all you green people, im sorry it was dumped on the ground, it was leaking when i pulled on the side of the road for a fuel line leak. it was overflowing and had no other choice.

Wow, that oil looks dark. Mine has 12k miles on it and it is still clear/amber.

thats because its not normal oil. Its the crankcase vapors in liquid form.

I have never noticed those vapors in mine. Where would I find them?

The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) vents the vapors in the crankcase back into the intake manifold to for emissions purposes. If you've ever removed your intake manifold you'd notice theres alot of grime covering the walls of it. This isn't so good for performance as you can imagine. Alot of people install air compressor filters as a way to keep the manifold cleaner.

I took my PCV valve out and cleaned it out. I was told that cleaning it will make it run better and get better mileage. I was wondering if I connect it to the PCV line or the other one. Also were does the air intake hose go and that shouldnt have oil in it right. BOB
