View Full Version : Elantra Off-roading!
I've seen in slyderdai's thread that people were talking about off-roading, and since i dont want such a conversation be closed because of an off-topic matter, i made the thread for it!
So did you guys ever "off-roaded" your elantras? do you have any "off-roading" elantra?
Mine is dfinately an example of off-roaded elantra, since its in a pitty state since i've sold my other one for school purposes, and im going to buy one at next summer.
I unfortunately dont have any good pics of real offroading, but i'll try to bring some soon.

Yep, this is what it does to an elantra.

Not offroading, but the casual parking.
http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/166/redsc0701ej5.jpg
A tiny bit of snow offroading.
Dont blame me for not taking care of the car, the mechanic is perfect, i've just never changed my doors. :abovelol:

pics/vids of offroading elantras hitting jumps or GTFO:D lol

wish i cud record this somehow... but i have gone off a sort of jump... theres a street near my house, its a big *** hill, and u can do it going up or down.
it goes down like this \ but about half way, theres a bit of flat area for the street that cuts in, and thats where the "jumping" action happens
i cant tell u if ive ever gotten completely air borne or not, but it feels like a rollercoaster ride.
i've done many jumps, including air bornes too

I have been sorta offroading in my first Elantra

You can see tracks in the foreground made by a previous run before the pic was taken.
Did that fun within the first couple thousand miles of owning it.
As for the time i got it stuck. We were playing airsoft in this abandoned field in the West side of Orlando, near UCF. End of the long road entrance to the field, there is a big patch of sugar sand, but if you stay to the side where its firmer, you'd be fine. We'll one time we were in a hurry to leave cause a severe t-storm was coming. (there was small hail in this storm) On the way out there's debris on the other side and i swerved to avoid it, then suddenly remembered the sugar sand and tried to swerve back but just my luck there was a 4ft depression and thus i got buried with sand up to my oil pan. 4hrs later my car was unstuck but severely dirty (just imagine muddy sand on a white hatch ) with sand in all sorts of nooks n crannies.

lmao thats so awesome are there any elantras out there with lift kits on them? just curious what it would look like haha
Pete03GLS
03-05-2008, 12:53 AM
well, look at a stock elantra, and just imagine higher.... rofl ours look like theyre lifted anyways. lmao
lol yea, look at my third pic, when i showed it to people, they were like "wtf, you lifted your car?" i must admit that elantras are high if you compare them to other ones, its better in snow ^^

03-05-2008, 01:02 AM
true......well what about bagged elantras Ive only seen the one twotone hatchback that looked awesome. Anyone know if riding on a bagged car is more smooth than stock suspension or is it worse?
Pete03GLS
03-05-2008, 01:03 AM
yea thats true, im dropping regardless tho, winter wasnt that bad here this year... i dont think we ever got more than 6 inches off snow in a single snow fall. if that.
its probably smoother, but wayy toooo dangerous to bother with.

this thread fails to deliver
as for the topic, i dont intentionally off road. december 05 i did hit some black ice (had snow tires on), went across the road, into a ditch, and clipped a phone pole. SOME HOW, i was able to drive right out of the ditch. it amazed the hell out of me.

Back when I got my kit I had to take it to this junkyard place to get it painted and had to drive through what seemed to be a mine field. It was fun.
Driving to my friends cabin in my old auto, it was just as Katrina was coming through our area...and well the only road to his cabin was this two dirt tire track paths, huge mud puddles, and torrential downpour.
Man....I felt like I was rally racing.
But in the new one, so far all I've done (this is with the 1" drop from the eibachs minds you) was hop the curb down on Blvd of the Allies so I could get on 376, and make it in/out of my driveway after all this snow we got..there was at least half to 3/4 of a foot of snow on the driveway...

There is one question I have to ask....
WHY!!!!!!!!!!
This is where little kids such as your selves and mature young adults differ. I could go on for ever. You come on the forum and post your rediculous actions and what surprises the hell out of me, is that there are others that do the same thing and are proud of it!!!!:hand:

Thanks for pointing these kids in the right direction. Off roading is for OFF ROAD VEHICALS!! Trucks and Jeeps thats it! Not counting auto-x dirt tracks.
Rob, those pics are freaking amazing. I love the little mini-light bar.
And rota, thats what makes it so great. It just goes to show how people are willing to mix it up a little bit.
I'd totally do it if there was a place to around here.

why own the vehicle if you cant have fun with it?? i pay my own car note, insurance, and every penny that goes into the upkeep up my vehicle, so i dont see the big deal, its not like im ruining a car that mommy and daddy bought for me.

Btw theres always places to take a car off road and get a little mud on the tires, OPZ. Just go for a ride after a hard rain one day, im sure you will find something

If you want to have fun with a vehical off road than you bought the wrong vehical. Trucks and Jeeps are a LOT more fun off road than your petty elantra would be any day of the week. I can't wait till you bust a ball joint, rip off your exhaust, crack your tranny, get a flat, bend your suspension. Why? because when you do YOU will make a thread about it expecting to be cool when you are looking like a complete idiot.
It doesn't matter whether or not your parents bought the car or if you bought the car. You are RUINING YOUR car. :hand:

He made a thread to get comments...well he is getting comments from those that are just like him and from a-holes like me that just don't understand the concept of ruining your DD and spending money repairing it....
People like him are also the ones that would clean up the car and sell it telling the buyer its been used as a daily driver back and forth to work only (which I would be surprised if some of these "kids" had a job other than McDonalds) and kept in good condition,

Rota. Here's the kicker that I know will get your goat. I would do it in an RX-7 even, just because the RWD would make donuts easier.
To me, a car is a car. ****s ganna break, and so what if you break it sooner?
Hell. Give me a million dollars, I will not be out buying a lambo or whatever. I'm going to have fun. Yes, a truck/jeep/whatever is loads more effective and easier at off-roading, but when you DO manage to do it in a DD, and don't break anything. Then I think theres a small bit of bragging rights right there.
Laugh if you want, but If I get a spare extra $500, I'm so buying a ratty *** car to field stomp in.

i didnt post pictures in this thread, trying to make myself "look cool" bc i could honestly care less what you think. Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. If i bust a ball joint, who cares it can get fixed, if i rip of the exhaust, thats nothing a welding machine cant fix, crack the tranny then that will get fixed, getting a flat, been there... bending suspension, who cares?? cars are made to be driven, **** breaks, thats why theres places with certified employees, who wait for people like me to come in and say i ****ed this up, fix it lol
you need to get the stick out of your *** man, these types of things are a personal preference, if you wouldnt do this to your DD, then thats your decision, but people like me, who like to have fun, and do crazy ****, well this is where we end up, in this thread arguing with someone over taking a car through a little mud lol
and why go out and buy a truck and take it to the mud the first time and get stuck, then i have to call someone with an elantra to come pull me out!! lol ill buy a truck eventually, and ill have a car, and ill still take my car offroading. its really not as big of a deal as your making it out to be.

1 of them is James (Keyan)
ive been rough on my car in the streets and shiz. if i didnt hate cleaning it i would prolly hit up some mud. but i hate cleaning my wheels, so thats enough to stop me heh. ive taken other DD out in stuff similar to that, maybe not quite that bad though.
but i think thats awsesome that you can get away with that. and just becasue its mud covered doesnt even mean you destroyed the car, you can go mudding in an area ant not bottom out and not toss it around too bad. its just like sliding around in the snow and doing some fun donuts etc. just a bit messier hehe

ive been working since i was 16 which is working age in ny. i went from cashier at target to a sales rep. i quit when i was 17 as soon as i got a job with radioshack. i started as a sales rep and i have just recently started manager in training program, i should have my own store in a year and a half. i have worked my *** off to be where i am now. im 18 years old btw. just bc were younger doesnt mean we have to have a ****ty job or we cant make money like the older guys.
but anyway, i dont think i could ever do that to my car...
Aye, I've been working since 16 also. And anything I've broken on my car, I've fixed or gotten fixed myself.
I started at Giant Eagle (local supermarket chain) as a cashier, then quit and picked up a job at Chuck E. Cheese, and while working at CEC I've had other jobs at Hot Topic(seasonal), then later at Radioshack (was offered ***. Manager position, but turned down because I despise the DM here), and now at CEC I'm the store tech.
So I've worked almost all min. wage jobs, and STILL have extra money to toss around to do stupid fun things like off-roading.
