omg omg omg omg looks soo good omg. what are you doing about the mounting tabs? and hows the fitment?
04GTboySC
03-06-2008, 08:24 PM
well theres enough lip that we can use the clips and everything from stock bumper
now there is a little fitment issue on the passenger side that we have to dremmel, my friend whom helped me should be responding when he gets a moment with exactly what the problem is
you can kinda see the problem in a picture above looking at the passenger side

that's not too shabby bro! it's gonna look good when you're done. the fitment doesn't look too bad, I do see where you do need to do a little work, but that's not bad. most fiberglass bumpers and crap require a little massaging here and there to get them to look right. just be thankful, if you got a cheap bumper from who knows where, I've seen guys that have spent so much money fixing all the crap that was messed up on it just to get it to fit, they coulda bought 2 decent bumpers. looks like you lucked out. so run with it me boy, make it the new hotness

You need an intercooler for that huge gap! I hope you're planning on getting some mesh or something though, it really looks kind of empty. Other than that, it looks amazing!!!

yea i am, im plannin to get matching mesh for upper grille and lower

That bumper looks great on your ride Scott. I would say some you definitely need some side skirts to compliment the bumper, and maybe just a rear skirt, or "flarings" on the sides of the rear bumper.
Keep it up Scott!!!

I would have to say that this is my 2nd fav kit for the Elantra. I dunno why, but the Zefiro is the best... in my opinion. Then of course comes the r34.
I don't know if ur hood was shut all the way, but it looks like a lil bit of a gap. I'm assuming the hood was still propped.
Makes me think twice about waiting/pre-ordering the bumper for myself. It's going to look sick.

No its closed. Looks at the headlights and fenders, no gap there.
04GTboySC
03-07-2008, 07:39 AM
the reason there is gap right there is because its not really secured down trust me there isnt really a gap there that to might be because its not secured down
the only gap i really have is on the passenger side fender area so not sure what happend there heres a picture http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/04gtboyVA/2008_0306testfitgrille0010.jpg
thanks again for all the compliments
and btw i have tanabe springs (well known for tiburons in japan)
bcoleman where should i look for this stuff? just a rear skirt, or "flarings" on the sides of the rear bumper.
only1db
03-07-2008, 07:39 AM
wow that is awsome...that is going to look very nice when all is said and done!!
can you still use the inner fender linings?? or are they eliminated?
Deviant
03-07-2008, 07:42 AM
I believe what everyone is seeing with the gap between the hood and bumper is caused from the sides not being attached to the fender, therefore causing the bumper to droop and deform itself causing the gaps. Look how in the side picture the bumper had to be held up, I believe if someone held the bumper like that on both sides and then took a picture that the gaps would close up.
04GTboySC
03-07-2008, 07:43 AM
^ just what i said
yea the inner fender stuff is still there that fits perfectly
only1db
03-07-2008, 07:46 AM

04GTboySC
03-07-2008, 07:50 AM
o yea and i want it to look that way thats why i gota find matching mesh for upper grill and the lower area i already ordered tiburon fog light housings you know the black one
but ya like bcoleman stated i should look at some type of side skirt and rear thing to make it flow better because its obviously a little wider and its not even with whole car
Deviant
03-07-2008, 07:53 AM
I've seen it on the KDM Avantes, but I was wondering if you were planning to put the black GT moldings back on the new bumper? I don't see how they would attach though.
04GTboySC
03-07-2008, 07:56 AM
nopes they will be gone so thats why im kinda debating about getting a full body kit rear bumper so i get rid of those as well and just have the sides

KDM side skirts are your answer there. As for the rear bumper, hmm, I don't know.

The M&S sides and rear would look awesome. Too bad Italia only has XD kits. I wonder if they would still work on an XD2?

the side skirts would but thats it.

03-07-2008, 02:04 PM
haha james is right im going the best route i can with the paint matching, you guys cant tell but i've already had my roof repainted and it looks the same as the whole car because i used the shop the dealership sends there cars to
i will look into those side skirts any other recommendations, i was thinking the r34 sides / rear but not to sure
btw someone mentioned about the gap between hood and bumper meet right by the head light? i have about the same gap with my stock bumper so thats normal i guess
hey munky who should i talk to about the m&s sides / rear?
i just looked at the sedan pics on here and that looks awesome not sure if it would look the same on hatch back
what about the astrel kit?
im gona search for it
SilverElantra
03-07-2008, 04:42 PM
id say keep it look kdm. kdm sides and maybe a simple rear lip. the r34 kit will look off with that bumper. the ms kit migth look good but be careful the sides are not lower than the front bumper.
04GTboySC
03-07-2008, 05:26 PM
wut if the kdm sides dont look even to the bumper? i dont think they are
and what type of rear bumper would u do?

I think the rear would depend on the side skirts. They definately have to flow to get a clean look.
04GTboySC
03-08-2008, 08:39 AM
^ agrees with him
thats why im kinda still debating about the r34 sides / rear since m&s doesnt have a 04 rear :(

03-08-2008, 02:05 PM
wow you're so lucky you don't have a foot of snow to deal with :(
ohh also, DON"T get the R34 sides, the fit is ****ing horrible and you have to cut and extend alot

the rear i would honestly leave alone...

Scott, check out this, on EF's site. Specifically, the rear lip portion of this kit. That is what I was talking about in my post earlier up. Not a replacement bumper, but something to tie in the front bumper and side skirts.
04GTboySC

aparently the rear bumper is different on the 01-03 hatchback so the rear wont work
i was looking at those sides actually

None.
As for the KDM side skirts, those will be up higher than the Tib bumper. Remember the KDMs only cover/complete the look of the side. They don't really lower the sides. That Tib bumper tho lowers ~1.5inches from the looks of things.
I personally say go for this one
http://www.evofusionusa.com/TeamSR/Hyundai/04elantra-cuperkit.html
and get a new tip on the exhaust.
You can see here that it looks about inline with the stock front bumper
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k177/ryesherm2/DSC00008.jpg
The front just needs a lil flaring added to it hence why Silver and I agree the RR lip will be best.
SilverElantra
03-10-2008, 04:39 PM
only cause you are going for the super stock kdm look.
04GTboySC

What springs are you using scott?
BColeman
03-11-2008, 11:13 PM
He's using Tanabe springs for the Tiburon.
And Scott, yep, I agree, save the rear end for another day. Focus on some side skirts, and I'm sure something will pop up for the rear bumper. Like we talked about on AIM, try to find something like the Corolla. Hell, check a local junkyard to see if they have one of those bumpers and remove the two lip things from it and see if it will work on the Elantra. If it does, then at least we XDers have something else we can do.
