We got our first brand new M3 in today! OH MY GOD! That thing has balls! I wanted to buy it until I saw the $69k price tag on it...

07s optioned out were around 58k, IIRC. i'd still love an e46...hell, id even be happy with an 02-03 330ci hard top (f- convertibles)

something like this, same wheels too...something about them, i love em...and 6-speed, no auto

Nasty car but for the money ($49K), I'd rather have the twin turbo inline six 335i coupe:

I would actually take the 135i. Has the same twin turbo V6 but in a smaller package!

It's an INLINE-6, not a V6 and I agree with you. Same engine in a lighter body and cheaper package..

i sat in one at the austoshow, the carbon fiber weave was crazy in there, it felt really comfortable inside. everything was ergonomically designed.
But what is Gas Guzzler Tax? I saw that on a few cars at the show wtf?

Mmmm juicy! I'm likin that! no wonder I like the taillights on the HD so much! for the money, if I could by anything it'd be an M3. Nothing else. I'd be all I need. No crazy mid-engine, awd or anything like that. Just some nice raunchy horsepower and a chassis that would put a grin on my face on every on ramp. That'd make me happy.

We've been getting reports from all over that the 2008 BMW M3 Coupe has begun to arrive in U.S. dealerships. Dealers, however, have also begun taking advantage of the high interest in these Bavarian über coupes by marking up the price. Since we couldn't just take everyone's word for the extreme mark ups, we had to wait until someone surfaced with proof, which came today. Dragtimes.com is hosting an image of a brand spanking new M3 sitting in an unidentified California dealer at Century West BMW in North Hollywood with a window sticker displaying the car's $70,720 MSRP plus a $30,000 mark up.

Yeah if the car doesn't get at least a combined mpg rating od 22.5 it gets hit with the tax.
For cars just under 22.5 the tax starts around $1000 and gets as high as $7700 for vehicles only getting 12.5mpg and lower

as of now, suv's and trucks dont have to pay the tax, but people are thinking thats only a matter of time..

and yeah, i noticed that on the sticker right away and just had to research it, i was glad to see i wasnt the only person who hadnt heard it it before.

I duno, the car is pretty sexy, but i don't love it.. i mean, don't get me wrong, id take one.. for free :D

A nearly 50% markup is pathetic. If it doesn't bother you I guess the high cost of gasoline doesn't bother you either. It's also supply and demand at it's finest, right?

Silent, you obviously don't understand what supply and demand is. There is a low supply of this car, and a high demand. That means that dealers can charge more, and people will pay. It's business.
And Nova; Fuel is a necessity to run our entire country, and the oil companies are making record profits. An M3 is an unneeded luxury. So no, I don't mind the markup on the M3...

In order for our country to run in a productive manor, it is a necessity at this point in time to use gasoline/fuel. And we have a fine supply of fuel. that is evident by the fact that I don't have to wait in a 3 mile line to gas up. The fact that the oil companies are making a $13,000 per minute profit is the reason that our fuel prices are up. And I don't complain about fuel prices. Look at the prices elsewhere. Take Europe for example, gas prices are historically at least twice what ours are...

That's due to taxes for road maintenance.
