Just (yesterday) bought an 08 elantra gls..black...fog lights, cruise, and the upgraded sound system. So far so good! Traded in my '99 B5 Passat 1.8 T which put out 17psi of boost...fun car, but really expensive to maintain and always had something wrong with it. I feel bad for whoever buys it.
I have been a member of the PassatWorld forums for about five years. So although I am a Hyundai 'noob', i know how the forums work, and I wont ask common questions without searching first.
The car is financed for 5 years, so I will be around here for awhile and look forward to learning all I can about this car, and more importantly, sharing info and meeting some new people.

Welcome to the site. Since you were a member of another forum, you know that search is your friend. This site has a ton of info and very knowledgeable people (some good some bad, just like any forum). If you can't find what you are looking for, just ask.

I won't claim that EXD is on par with Vortex, but we try! Welcome to EXD.

Good job on the HD. Well done.

There are some cool people from your area as well.

Welcome Chris. Since you're used to Forced Induction, it will be interesting to read any input / comments you might have for those posts.

Remember, you can always go F/I on an Elantra, too... ;)

Yes however going FI on a NA engine is not the funnest thing to maintain, lol.

Welcome ;)

Ill miss the turbo, but not the headaches and maint. that go with it...Although they do sound amazing when they spool up and you get the "PSSSHHH" sound coming from the DV.

I told myself i would keep this car stock (with the exception of headlights, tint, OEM alloys, grill, and debadging) , I know its just a matter of time before I pop the hood and get the mod bug again.

I already started thinking of the possibilities with trying to fab. a CAI and heat shielding as I did for the Passat successfully without throwing a CEL...VW's seem to be have one of the more sensitive MAFs and dont take kindly to deviations from stock setups. So it will be interesting to see what the HD would put up with.

The elantra is very ecconomical. My other car like yours always had something wrong with it. I was more of chasing the problems instead of stopping them before they started or got worse.

Fuel savings is incredible. I average about 35mpg but I have gotten 45mpg and have actually been up to 49-50mpg which was incredible for me. Light throttle seems to be key. Cruise control is your best friend sometimes.

Nice choice with the HD, i've got a GLS Sport (SE) coming in the next couple of weeks. (it's still in delivery)

I've always loved VW's and Audi's, just not the repair bills or gas for the turbos.

Throw up some shots when you get some!
