I bought an Elantra GT stick 01 with 94K miles at an auction 2 months ago. I currently have 101K miles and counting. Since I bought it from an auction I have no history on the car. Its completely stock and the only thing I have done is put in a mp3 player. I get about 31-33 mpg and drive 400-500 miles a week (75% highway)

Things I did to the car after buying it.
1. Oil change (twice in 2 months due to the 7K miles I have put in 2 months), radiator flush, air filter change
2. 4 spark plugs. I had intended to do a completely tune up but when I removed the engine cover the wires/distributor cap looked fine. Also got it checked by a mechanic and he said they looked fine, but I figured I would throw in new NGK plugs since I took the cover off. The old plugs looked ok.
3. Complete inspection done on the car and the mechanic found nothing wrong with it.
4. Putting in lucas fuel injector cleaner once a month. (It helps a lot on the car. The vibrations have gone down big time while idling)
5. Putting in lucas with all oil changes

Concerns,
1. Even after getting a wheel balance twice, there is some wobble at high speeds. The rims have some curb marks but are not bend so rims are out of the question.
2. Since I do not have any maintaince records on the car, I am worried about the timing belt. How many hours labor is it? So I know how much it should cost to fix it.
3. What kind of maintaince should I do on the car. I am talking about everything from car washes to regular maintaince. My previous car was a 2003 Maxima SE with low miles (5 speed) but I needed something cheap and great milage and I knew Elantra is the way to go. I love how these cars are. I just followed the maintaince on the Max from the owners manual.
4. I also intend to do oil changes every 4K miles, should I go with regular oil or synthethic?
5. How do you guys upkeep the XD?
6. I intend to drive the XD for another 1.5 to 2 years till I hit atleast 150K. So all help is appreciated.

Book time on the timing belt is either 3 or 4 hours, I can't remember. Dino oil is fine. Most of our cars sufferer from shaking at highway speeds. Get the tires road force balanced, and it should help.

I had a wobble and couldn't get it to go away after balancing/alignment. Got new rims and it went away. None of my stock steel show any signs of being bent, no curb rash, etc.

I seen a few XD's go over 200,000 with no problems so you should keep the xd longer.

you could take the car to the dealer and have them do a multipoint inspection to see if it needs anything, usually they check it for free.
