Yeppers. .. got the vibrating beast under control. Picked up what I thought was a se of 185/60R14 wheels and almost new tires for $250. Ended up being 15" Motegi MR7's and 195/50/15 Mastercrafts, 3 almost new, one with a little more wear (3 @7/32, 1 @6/32). Nice suprise. Looks good. . .but see for yourself. IMO, it's still an ugly thing, but not bad for a beater turd.

No, the "race accent" is a joke. This is the wife's DD beater turd. 146k and it's got the powerhouse 92hp 1.5L SOHC. It's about as good for auto-x as a Yugo is.

On another note. . .y'all remember my thread talking about the mysterious loss of oil from the turd a little while back. It had eaten 2 qts of oil in 4500 miles with no visible signs of leakage or any blue smoke. After putting 2qts back into it just a couple days later the oil was black, like diesel oil. So she drove it another week, curbed it and it's since sat until yesterday. Changed the oil/filter and th filter (OEM) was heavy. COnsidering I just changed the oil on the Elantra 2 days ago, you can feel a heft difference between the two. Looked under the cap, all the varnish is gone. Refilled with valvoline dino 10W30, restarted and checked the oil and noticed the built up varnish on the dipstick is also gone.

Now, the previous oilchange I used Mobil1 10W30. Much like my Elantra, the M1 seems to have literally cleaned the engine of old varnish and deposits of crud top to bottom. The turd was developing a slight tick before the oil change that is now gone. Is M1 that good of a cleaner? Or going back to OEM filters (over twice the size of the aftermarket jusnkI took off when we got it) erally catching that much junk?

Curious, very curious. I'll keep an eye on it and see where this goes

Yes sir it is! But it's a great running POS. I think the last tank was 35.4mpg at 146k miles.
