Hey everyone. I'm Hoss from Idaho, and I'm new to this site, so I wanted to say hello and good to meet you all.

On to the reason I joined up...I need good information and advice.

I've got a 2005 Elantra with 17" Devino rims. Ever since I got the rims, if I have anyone riding in the back of the car, the tire hits the strut tower when I hit a bump or take a corner sharp. I know that obviously new rims with proper backspacing would eliminate the problem, but I'm low on dough. So...would wheel spacers adequately solve the problem? If so, are they reliable? It wouldn't hurt anything to space the back a little and not the front, correct? Would I create a new problem fo the tire hitting the car itself instead of the strut tower? Any thoughts and/or advice would be much appreciated, and again, good to meet everyone.

Welcome to the site. I also live in Idaho.(magicvalley area) Getting the proper sized rim/tire would most likely eliminate the issue. I'm sure someone on this site has info and experience with the spacers.

Welcome to the site. I have no idea how to answer your question so I'm not going to try.

Welcome. I don't see how it could hit the strut tower since the lower perch doesn't move relatively to the wheel. Perhaps it is hitting the car itself and you don't know? Some pictures would help.

My 18's did the same thing on the rear spring perch with weight in the back. It can happen. Are the rim's wider then 7"? Good luck and welcome.

if it is hitting the strut tower a spacer should definitely help. I'd start off with a 5mm spacer. Most places will let you return it if it doesn't work.

when i was in NY, and rode in the back of jesse's car... with other ppl in the car... the rear end where i was sitting would rub when turning to the right or going over a bump. so spacers shud help.
