So i know some of you have this, some don't, but....

Why on earth would you put and air filter in the bottom of the front bumper, its just going to clog up with dirt and dust. Then it will be blocking air flow. :conf:

Then the shorty CAI are not "COLD" air in. they are in the engine bay, more hot air than the stock air box.

That's why it's a filter. If you were to keep the intake end in fresh clean air all the time you wouldn't need a filter, would you?

Just a thought...

If you can clog up a quality filter enough for you to loose performance from it in a time period that is short enough to complain about. Im talking less than a couple years, than I will buy you a new filter...

lol does look like a bird. And you do need an air filter, no matter where you intake is. The whole concept behind the design of the factory air box is to prevent dirt from getting to the filter. If i was to do the CAI in the bumper I would have to clean it every week. With K&N in factory box, cleanings are about every 3-4 months.

That's why I want to relocate my battery and put my filter there, with a heat shield. To avoid both heat, and dust/dirt.

That would be a good location for it. Heatshield is a nice thing too

The "point" of the factory air intake system is to minimize noise

you don't *need* to relocate the battery... my filter sits behind the headlamp between the battery and fender no problem... I had to move the battery sideways a few inches, but now the battery acts as the heatshield :)

You wouldn't need to clean it that often, even if your on a dirt road.
PLUS, the filter is INFRONT of the tire not behind it, and there is a wheel well cover between the two.

Sorry, but this argument holds about as much water as a siv.

lol, check out my sig i dont have that plastic flap protection like everyone else.

Also if you drive down a muddy dirt road, when you get out, look at the wheel well there will be dirt on the front and back of the inner wheel well.

Wouldn't that shoot all kinds of stuff up at the bottom of the sheetmetal in the engine bay right underneath the battery tray? That has to be a nasty, rusty mess, even in SC.

The factory air box is right there. (although the intake of that box is in the grille) No my car does not rust, I take care of it.
