Hello All.
My sister is coming from NYC and I'm going to perform a 30,000 mile maintenance on her car. She doesnt' have an owners manual so I need your help.
-Spark plugs?(I think they're platinum so they don't have to be changed until 100,000 miles)
-Air Filter, Check
-Engine oil? Is 5w30 oil in lieu of 5w20?
-Hyundai Engine oil filter, Check
-Does Coolant have to be changed or is it Long life?
-Transmission fluid ? Is it long life or do I have to change it every 30,000 miles?
what others need to be changed? The only reason I'm asking is because I nkow there's a difference between the Beta I and Beta II. I also know that the Beta II engine has a slightly different maintenance schedule plan.
Thanks in advance!

You are concerned with the difference between service for a Beta 1 and Beta 2 engines, why? Does she have an older Elantra?

I appreciate it.
The only reason I'm concerned about the Beta II is because I own a Beta I Hyundai Tiburon and I know the maintenance intervals and maintenance parts are slightly different.
For Example, I think: Beta I copper spark plugs , must be changd every 30,000 miles. Beta II use Platinum and designed for platinum, and must be changed every 105,000 miles.

I use 10w 30 in my 03 elantra
you don't just check an oil filter, you replace it.
no engine fluid is life-long
coolant should be changed, it still has some life on it, but its good to change now, especially since it will be right there.
trans fluid should be changed, but not just yet (im not sure of the recommendation on that) get the dealer to do this because they have a machine that can suck it out and filter the fluid.
give her a bottle of injector cleaner, tell her to goto the gas station pour the cleaner in just before filling up with mid-grade. Right after you finish working on the car.

30k, for the tranny, and get a really good bottle of fi cleaner (techron, etc) and don't bother with the midgrade! you're just wasting money, and you're not getting anymore detergents unless you're getting top tier gas (I know they don't sell any around here), and that's not always going to be affected by grade anyway. odds are, the extra 15 cents or so you're paying more, is just gonna be doubly wasted by less fuel economy, and not clean anything extra out because they're probably only putting the minimum required amount of detergent in anyway.

I didn't mean to "Check" the part, I mean "Check" as in I have this part with me.
