i might be a week or two from getting one, so after the CF hood and some handling upgrades, the XD will retire from its solo post as my "modding" car to my DD.

moderators, perhaps this was more approprate in the off-topic forum? I got a little trigger happy with this car find... :D

so is this z32 turbo/twinturbo/or NA?
Here are some sites I use for my s30 but they cover z31,z32 etc.

unfortunately the soft-top was never made in a twin turbo, its NA, but my eventual plans involve dropping in a new VG30DTT and manual transmission into the thing. im going to be gone from training for six months very soon, so if i get it, the dealership can have it for that whole time to get the work done, and even if im here while the work is done i have the XD to beat around in.

I know, you're all thinking "This kid is a ****ing moron to pay so much for a new engine/tranny and for a dealer to do the work!!!"

To this i say, I want a brand new engine because that way i know it wasn't abused and driven to hell like my girlfriends ex's Z32, and i'm perfectly fine with shelling out the cash for the dealership's labor to make sure its done right. Plus, i already know the service manager at a local Nissan dealership and he said he should be able to get a 4 or 5 year/40k warranty if they do the work. plus, i'll have plenty of extra cash. I expected to pay $8-9,000 for a used Z32, and over $10,000 if i found a convertible; and this one's only $3,500. (something's probably wrong with it)

Needless to say, 1994+ Z32's are hard as hell (from what i've been told) to find in the States, and the soft-top even more difficult than that.

My Grandfather had a rusted out, beat up 280Z painted yellow with a bumblebee on each door (not sure if that was a special production Z or not) but this will be painted as such when the internal/suspension work is all done.

And yes, it WILL be rebadged as a Datsun Fairlady ZX :D

nah the only special 280z was the black one with gold pearl which is what the previous owner of mine was trying to knock off i guess. but you could get a z32 in great condition for $9000 that is totally solid, w/ aftermarket stuff on it. and FWIW

yeah, im still gonna look, but this one seems like such a steal at only $3,500. I'd prefer a T-top, or even a slicktop for the rigidity of the body. i've also been cruising the 300ZXclub.com forums, and im thinking i would be better off looking for a Z32 Slick or T-top and replacing that engine instead. this ragtop has some light modding from what i can see. mainly some aftermarket mufflers/exhaust tips (cant see if its a whole aftermarket system) and some sound upgrades, but thats it. im guessing its probably not smogged since he is from out of state.

I think i'll look for a T-top...i just crashed from my high of finding a vert.

HAHA! found the seller on craigslist: the vert isn't running.

but i found another one that looks good... minus the color and wing.
