strang alternator sound

every time i switch my engine off i hear a very high pitched sound like a whistle for 1 second coming from the alternator. do i need to replace my alternator what do you think??????:headshake:headshake:headshake

you would need to test it first ... if the sound is reproduced outside of the car then a rebuild might be appropriate.

it could also be a belt problem.
