lots and lots of heat buddy, thats what I had to do when I replaced the tranny, I had one out and noticed that I didnt need the axles out to put the tranny and motor in.
With your new bundle of joy you should be spending your time packing up that free manifold for me and not replacing bearings, lol!
Good luck Ilan, I dont know any other way than heat to do it. I didnt have that axle tool that you do though, I put a spare nut on and whacked it with an 8 pound sledge once it was heated.

i use a dead blow mallet....or on the end is a dimple...i use my air hammer on it.
you can also use pb blaster then hit it.
another trick i have seen people use is putting hte castle nut on the end of it 3/4 of the way screwed down...then it the nut....i'm not so sure i like that though

I, am using an axel puller

ouch , it looks like you already mushroom'd the head a little bit by forcing the puller in it, you might need an axle already.

Soak it with lubricant, Then while tightening on the puller, tap all sides of the hub, front, back, top, bottom, sides.

I always use my air hammer with the punch bit on those. Sucks you don't have a compressor. The air hammer is a beast and works wonders. It's also how I lost half my vision in my left eye!:(
There is another option, slightly a hack one though. You could wack the hell out of the axle with a sledge. Then just dremel off the mushrooming and bad threads before pulling it through the splines. Should still leave you with pleanty threads to get the nut and cotter pin back on.

Might want to consider cleaning that rust out if you can.
