View Full Version : ~4 psi with MP45 Eaton S/C and 60 mm pulley at 2K RPM, ~9 psi max

I finally got a 0-15 psi boost gauge installed in my car.
The maximum boost level I see is 8.75-9 psig with the "9 psi" 60mm (I think) pulley from Dmdicks (Thanks Dave!!! :)). Not bad -- that's with the phenolic intake spacer which adds volume on the intake manifold.
Now, here's what's nice -- at 1700 RPM, I'm pushing up to 3 psi of boost at WOT, and when I reach 2K RPM, I can hit 4 psi boost at WOT. :D There's some extra low end torque!
Can you turbo guys get any boost at all below 2.5K or 3K rpm?
Now, once I get my 2 bar Bosch MAP and get around to installnig the SMT-6 and Zeitronix wideband, I'll actually be able to get rid of the Unicrap (Unichip)
and tune the sucker properly to take maximum advantage of the boost.

But can your car break traction through 4th, didn't think so. :)

I can break traction going into 2nd and a bit going into 3rd. You need better tires :D
Can your car pull a steep hill at 40 mph in 5th gear? Didn't think so. ;)

Wow, that sucks...
After I got my exhaust done, I used to get full boost (10 psi) at around 3k, and it ''started boosting'' at like 2k RPM.
How often are you on WOT at less than 2k rpm anyways? (answer: you should never be, or you downshift....).
Though compared to me it's 100% better cause i'm N/A now, hahaha.

Dyno? He's just talking about boost levels... But i think he's waiting on installing my little unit I sent him before anything ;)

He doesn't care about numbers. He was just giving an update since he now has a boost gauge installed.

That's about the same boost I am getting with a 60mm pulley. I am thinking of trying a 57mm pulley, would be at max RPM for the MP45. Maybe see 10 lbs of boost. I am going to send my SC to have the case coated and rotors recoated this fall, may help keep the intake air cooler.

Maybe I should start a "Dyno Jim's S/C Elantra" fund. You guys seem to be more interested in the dyno numbers than I am!!!
I do plan to run it at a 1/4 mile track somewhere this summer against a friend's mostly stock 5-speed V6 '06 Tib. Maybe that will passivate you guys a bit.

I'd be willing to donate to the "Jim's Dyno Fund". I'd also be willing to let you use my tuner for the Unichip again if you need it. :)
